From the Italian perspective I could say something. Italy has got a long and fruitful commercial cooperation with Saudi Arabia and the surrounding states. We buy oil from them and they invest in Italy [today some quarters of Milan belong to this or that emir and some very important Italian brands are actually Arab, Valentino, just to mention one]. Saudi Arabia import a lot of made in Italy and Saudi regime shows a friendly attitude towards our country. I personally had experience with those countries, traveling, and sure an Italian is treated better in Saudi Arabia than in UK [if you don't meet Indian officers at London Heathrow. In that case the treatment is comparable! English don't like Italians ... this is quite known ... but it's true also the other way round ...]. I guess this is why I usually just pass through UK to reach Scotland ... but this is a different tale. No, today Saudi Arabia is a valuable and precious ally to face terrorism and in perspective to face Iran.
