One of Sputnik's most enlightening columnist Finian Cunningham has written a thought provoking column entitled "War or Peace?" The central premise of this brilliant column is that short of a few political figures who honorable and dedicated to the people who elected them, men like Senator Rand Paul and his father Ron Paul who seek peaceful relations with Russia and China, the United States is mostly governed by a cadre of warmongers and "buffoons" (Cunningham's words) all of whom are dedicated to maintaining a future of perpetual warfare and the destruction of sovereign nation-states who resist the hegemony of the American military-industrial complex to submit to the demands of the American Reich in its plans to declare all out war on the Russian Federation and eventually the People's Republic of China as well.

Cunningham is quite right when he speaks about how ordinary Russians and Americans face many of the same problems, and sometimes have to deal with many of the same intransigent politicians and bureaucrats who are serving their own self interests, and that of their comrades in the ranks of the political and corporate elites. The destruction of the democratic nature of the US, which both Ron and Rand Paul have both warned about, and the triumph of the Deep State in blocking Trump's reproachment with Russia has lead Cunningham to come to the conclusion that many people, including myself, had arrived at many years ago. That conclusion being that the US is no longer led by a government who's principals are predicated on the Enlightenment ideals enshrined in the US Constitution for the establishment of a representative republic in which the people elect Congressmen and Senators to govern on behalf of all according to the will of the governed, but has instead become a regime that in many ways has many of the characteristics of the German Third Reich.

This is particularly the case when you consider that the politicians both in the US House and Senate are focused on ginning up the population for a war by inciting a hysterical hatred against Russia based upon their own cooked up provocations, while ignoring some very pressing needs that need to be addressed in the US. Cunningham declares that "Isn't it a crying shame that so many urgent social needs in America are being neglected? Poverty is at all-time highs. Children being killed from drugs and gun crime. Millions of Americans go to bed every night hungry. Workers live in cars in parking lots outside their workplaces. Young people can't get an education unless they become debt-slaves for the rest of their lives. "

Cunningham makes it clear that the death of democracy in America, and the establishment of a regime that is democratic in name only can be seen in how the Deep State and the political and corporate elites have put up road blocks to Trump's attempts to establish better relations with Russia. Cunningham writes, "What else can we call it when the interests and needs of the vast majority of the nation are not served. A president, Donald Trump, was elected in part because he pledged to normalize relations with Russia. But instead the political elites and unelected powers-that-be over-ride the popular mandate, to impose their agenda of belligerence. So much for democracy!"

According to Cunningham, politicians like McCain, Waters, Schiff, etc. are constantly calling on Congress and the President to dream up more sanctions and the justification for the enactment of those sanctions on Russia which could in time leave Russia no choice but to respond militarily to the US, should Russian sanctions against the US fail to give the US a taste of its own medicine; or the enactment of mirror sanctions by Russia against the US could trigger the self righteous thugs in power in the US to declare war on Russia.

Cunningham is right when he points how morally, ethically, and physically ill "McCain like the other American lawmakers is so filled with hatred and ignorance he seems to want to end the entire world along with his miserable life. Make no mistake, what the American Congress is proposing is nothing short of economic warfare with Russia, if this new round of sanctions go into effect. Which seems very likely given the climate of hysteria and Russophobia that the American politicians and their servile corporatist media have generated with their anti-Russia fantasies."

The end result of this terrible state of affairs, according to Cunningham, is that the constant attacks on Russia which have now become nothing short of an overt call to destroy Russia's economy so as to destroy Russia itself as a politically viable country will leave Russia with no other recourse than to declare a full scale war on the US and her vassal states, as has recently been hinted at by Prime Minister Medvedev and Foreign Minster Lavrov. The urgency with which Medvedev and Lavrov have been addressing the new round of sanctions about be imposed by Washington on Russia, the sanctions from hell" as McCain and his fellow warmongers have gleefully referred to the new sanctions bill, should make everyone shiver with concern, and should make Rand Paul's call for peace even more a clarion call for sanity in the US's approach to relations with Russia.

As Cunningham states, "tragically, the vast majority of ordinary people in the US, Russia and around the world do not want war. We want to live in peace. As with previous cataclysmic wars, humanity is being forced into a slaughter by an unaccountable elite. Cunningham finishes with this warning, "Again, is it war or peace? Let us be clear, if a catastrophe happens, it is solely the responsibility of the American regime and its hate-filled oligarchy-serving politicians...The whores for war are the undemocratic elites in Washington. The American rogue regime needs to be abolished and replaced with something that is truly democratic. If not, then disaster could be our fate." Mr. Cunningham we all say, AMEN !

May it go from your lips to God's ears that the day of wrath and terror that the American terrorist rogue state is cooking up shall not come to pass on humanity. However, should it do so, may the terror and bloody violence that such a cataclysmic event unleashes be one thousand times more horrific on those US politicians who walk in the darkness of evil and expressed glee at the destruction of innocence. God Save and Preserve the Russian Federation and the world.

It's posts like this that make me so proud to put on my uniform every day and prepare for the big show. May god have mercy on Russia if there is a great war...because the US most certainly will not.

Don't forget to feed your soldiers! Russians are so weak and malnourished. They all look so young.

I disagree with the OP premise. American politicians are not war mongers. Their problem is that they have convinced themselves that they are the world's police force and that is a role that sometimes leads to violence. The OP should work on trying to convince the American politicians that the countries of the world should police themselves. Their job is to look after American interests, not those of other countries. They are incompetent at this.
