Yeah, and believe it or not, there was a time in my life when we had black and white televisions with rabbit ears that you had to move around the room to get a picture, and you even had to get up and turn a dial to change the station or adjust the volume.
And before microwave ovens we had to heat food on a stove, although almost all evidence of those things have disappeared, and in a few years they will just be old wives tales.

The hilarious thing is that God set the lifespan at 120 years and then he allowed people to live past 900 years.

Actually, no they wont. Be old wives tales, that is. They'll be historical knowns. Just as penny farthings and steam trains are today.

Heck, even I am prepared to believe that, and I have no particular faith in the Bible.

I have come to understand that the word they used for year actually refers to moon years (ie, months) which makes more sense in a civilisation closer to the equator. This would make his age 900/12=75 years old in today's counting. Doesn't sound implausible. I seem to remember even Methuselah being no more than reasonably old.

As so many other times, the problem is not with the logic, but with words. Someone changed the meaning of a word and consequentially, logic broke down. This is exactly the reason you will often see me being nit-picky with definitions and word usage. The important part here is that this explanation saves the Bible even from criticism against it being the infallible word of God. There are better arguments, for better threads.

Then that would make the earth, by those calculations, much younger than the calculated 6-10K yrs.

I think that might have something to do with the difference between those who say 6,000 years and those who say 10,000 years. I mean, if you go number by number, there really isn't a 25% difference that lets the possible ages to vary as much as between those numbers. There may very well be some additional problems in there, since some people like Abraham supposedly lived to 120, which is too young for moon years and too old for sun years. It may be that someone's been trying to fix the sudden jump and massaged the numbers a bit, but with no actual information, I don't feel comfortable making a claim.

Back in those days when Noah was young what were teeth made of?

My grandmothers teeth are pretty much worn, they'd never last another 80 years.

(I doubt very much there was a time before microwaves and rice cookers). :D

    "Are" there Christians…

    Just trying to help.

Yes, of course there are Christians who believe this. We also believe two were raised from the dead and another guy went straight to heaven without dying! Crazy stuff.

I can't believe I hadn't heard that before! As a Willie fan, I'm embarrassed. Outstanding.
