Our country is suffering from Saudi inspired Wahabism.

The world is suffering from Saudi inspired Wahabism.

The leaders who claim to be at War with Terrorist Extremism need to be tackling one nest of it in the ME Saudi Arabia along with the other Evangelical nests in the US.

We as Egyptians need to fight this extremism which is currently raising its ugly head because this is NOT Islam we are seeing. This is radical extremist Wahabi doctrine being funded by Saudi and being spread by Saudi.

BTW... King Abdullah has appointed a new head of the Morality Police who supports women working and men and women socializing in mixed groups.

Seriously I am not able to understand how you can support the dictatorship and teocracy of Abdullah.

Seriously I don't understand how you become blind towards this regime.

I admire them because of their amazing track record over the past 70 years.

Saudi Arabia is not a dictatorship.. its a monarchy, with many checks and balances.

They roam the streets and remind people to go to prayer and dress modestly. They don't have any police powers.

Abdullah has appointed a moderate reformer and ousted the hardliner.

    Its progres towards cautious reform.

You are correct Abu. But this is exactly what I predicted would happen when the event of last year occurred. Nothing and no one to fill the political vacuum. And look where we have ended up???? I say bring back the monarchy! Egypt still has a King in exile.

Can you please explain how the Wahabists are misinterpreting the Qur'an and the religion of Islam?

i understand what you mean. but you'll agree with me
when i make this small correction:
what every muslim country needs, is the islam of muhammed (saw).
and all muslims becoming one ummah.

"I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of
the modern world he would succeed in solving its problems in a way
that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have
prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable
to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the
    Europe of today.”

    ~bernard shaw
for sure, any ****-ism or separation is not a solution.
we have suffered enough from "divide and conquer".

the taqwa is not measured by appearance.
let them grow beards or wear whatever they want to
as long as they are sincere of their service to Allah.

i know this last part sounded a bit idealistic. :)

    no comment!

Then you do not understand dictatorship.
The people do not get to choose who rules them. They follow rules set by the king and his 5000 royal family.
Britain is a monarchy but they get to choose the parliament.
Saudis do as they are told and if they protest they get a bullet between the eyes as in Qatif and Awamaya or perhaps Manama.

It will settle down by the end of the year once we have a parliament and president in place. The last thing Egypt needs is another Farouk
    NO MORE PHARAOHS!

    Do some homework

    very good post

    The Quran says clearly
'There is no compulsion in religion'

Something Margots King should remember when his thugs beat people and make them go to pray.

Everyone is free to choose what to believe or not.

of course every Muslim knows of the sahifat al madina

    You love constitutions Margot

One reason El B was not happy and pulled out is that the constituion is going to be written before the presidential elections.

This to me is very strange.

Doing it this way limits presidential powers so why is he not for that?

That was the way under Mubarak who ruled over everything.

    Very strange

A new constitution for Egypt shouldn't take long .. the old constitution of King Idris was an excellent model re: human rights. Its on line and worth reading.

By the way I think that Fotouh will pick up El B supporters and get the votes that El B was going to get.
They were a good alliance and friends.

Fatouh is a very strong candidate to win the Prez position

The 100 wise men will draft it in no time at all.

Once that is done the President will be elected.

Then we can finally settle down.

I wonder if the Mos Bros will keep hold of Ganzouri as PM!

I dont feel that they are in any rush to change things quickly.
They will take time to choose the right people for the cabinet positions.
They dont want to make so many changes like last year so they will get it right i think.

SCAF can go back to Heliopolis Club and have kerkedeh and basboosa and Abimol

Or the lack of one can give sweeping power to the parliament if they are the ones who end up as the majority in the council writing the constitution.

    lol

So I was right in my belief that the Wahabists are not misinterpreting the Qur'an?

Since you are making the claim that Wahabism is not Islam, you probably should be willing to explain "why" when someone asks. Otherwise, your entire argument looks weak.

Religion was (and still is) the best tool for total control over the population without actually needing a huge army, or lots of money.

It worked in Saudi Arabia, and is working though out the entire developing world. Of course, you do need to make sure that no other religious sect tries to destabilize your control over the population by using the same tool you are using.

Mubarak's biggest mistake is that he never tried used religion as a tool, but I'm sure the new rulers of Egypt will. It is easy to convince a poor man to stay poor until he died if you promise him a better life after death.

The only way to get rid of religious control is to let different religious sects fight and kill each other. That is what happened in Europe, and that led to the birth of liberalism.

Ok. Saudi Arabia is an absolutist monarchy without any freedom. A totalitarian regime like the old monarchies of Europe three hundred years ago. Dictatorships at all.

No, there are checks and balances. Checks and balances where women have not any freedom. Are considered objects. Sorry. That is an awful country that any one that defends a bit the freedom never could support that regime.

Homosexuals are persecuted and death sentenced. Atheists the same. Witchery is prosecuted and people "who practice it" are sentenced to death. Women that are violated out of marriage can be sentenced to death. Sorry, but this regime can't be supported at any way. Is impossible to have any sympathy to this.

The Saudi monarchy rules by consensus.. They have to consult the clergy, merchants, royal family, technocrats and tribes.

Homosexuals live quietly and suffer no penalty unless they rape other men or molest children.

I am amazed at how little people know about Saudi Arabia.. but isn't it always the way of those who make the most noise.

Just in case anyone takes the OP seriously, here he is expressing a desire to commit the same kind of genocide against the Jews that Hitler did.

They never asked me. Ask the rest of the Saudi population, and 99% of them will give you the same answer as mine.

Saudi Arabia has the 2nd highest homosexuality rate in the world (Afghanistan is 1st). Most of them practice it as a necessity, and they don't talk about. Those who prefer it over normal sex can never reveal it to the public, as the punishment is death.

From your responses, you don't know that much either.
