We are talking about the Camp David Accords not the pressure regarding Iran.

I was the one who brought up the issue of strings attached to American aid to Israel and I was most definitely not talking about the Camp David Accords, I was talking about everything. For their money the US exerts enormous influence on the Israeli policy (and rightly so, I am not criticizing, just stating the fact).

I think the potential of the artificial pancreas is outstanding also.

And yes, I keep asking for ONE thing positive to come out of islam, I guess the number is still zero. 1400 years of zero positive contributions.

There are no 'no go zones'. But then you're an American and believe everything you read. I actually live here, you don't.

    I think you've got yr "fact " ar$e upwards .

There are many (majority) who hold the opposite view - that Israel not only takes US money but via AIPAC + other Jewish groups ., it also "exerts enormous influence on " US Middle East Policy. We;ve all often enough seen how Israeli Govt has humi+ liated - ignored , requests made by US Presidents + Secretaries of State, who were later forced to back down on several issues .

Israel would'nt last 6 months without sucking US Taxpayers blood.
Whoever described Capitol Hill as "Israeli-occupied territory " wasnt entirely wrong. Most of what you read is what you political masters want you to believe - Its a game to fool/deceive the public while deals/power brokering are done behind the screens . .

So you accept that Israel is not surrounded by peace-loving innocent tolerant neighbors who only dream of embracing their new neighbor and welcoming it in the neighborhood, right? You accept that Israel does indeed face an existential threat, don't you?

That said the US support is valuable to Israel of course but still 2.6 billion is a tiny fraction of Israel's GDP. With the US support Israel is unlikely to be attacked directly, without it it may just need to resort to nuclear weapons to defend itself.

PS It's the US that's twisting Israel's arm regarding a possible Israeli attack on the Iranian nuclear program. For its money the US does exert enormous pressure on Israel.

The champions of Israeli boycott have a surprise coming to them.
As an Israeli I say to these anti Semites and anti Zionists to boot, carry on with your boycott and I wish you the best in your vile endeavor...
    But here is the latest...

The Israelis are at it again [Altalena List]

Scientists in Israel found that the brackish water, drilled from underground desert aquifers hundreds of feet deep, could be used to raise warm-water fish. The geothermal water, less than one-tenth as saline as sea water, free of pollutants, and a toasty 98 degrees on average, proves an ideal environment..

Israeli-developed designer-eyeglasses, promise mobile phone and iPod users, a personalized, high-tech video display. Available to US consumers next year, Lumus-Optical's lightweight and fashionable video eyeglasses, feature a large transparent screen, floating in front of the viewer's face that projects their choice of movie, TV show, or video game.

When Stephen Hawkins recently visited Israel , he shared his wisdom with scientists, students, and even the Prime Minister. But the world's most renowned victim of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's disease, also learned something, due to the Israeli Association for ALS' advanced work in both embryonic and adult stem cell research, as well as its proven track record with neurodegenerative diseases. The Israeli research community is well on its way to finding a treatment for this fatal disease, which affects 30,000 Americans.

Israeli start -up, Veterix, has developed an innovative new electronic capsule that sits in the stomach of a cow, sheep, or goat, sending out real-time information on the health of the herd, to the farmer via email or cell phone. The e-capsule, which also sends out alerts if animals are distressed, injured, or lost is now being tested on a herd of cows, in the hopes that the device will lead to tastier and healthier meat and milk supplies.

The millions of Skype users worldwide will soon have access to the newly developed KishKish lie-detector. This free internet service, based on voice stress analysis (a technique, commonly used in criminal investigations) will be able to measure just how truthful that person on the other end of the line, really is.

Beating cardiac tissue has been created in a lab from human embryonic stem cells by researchers at the Rappaport Medical Faculty and the Technion - Israeli institute of Technology 's biomedical Engineering facility. The work of Dr. Shulamit Levenberg and Prof. Lior Gepstein, has also led to the creation of tiny blood vessels within the tissue, making possible its implantation in a human heart.

Israel 's Magal Security Systems, is a worldwide leader in computerized security systems, with products used in more than 70 countries around the world, protecting anything from national borders, to nuclear facilities, refineries, and airports. The company's latest Product, DreamBox, a state-of-the-art security system that includes Intelligent video, audio and sensor management, is now being used by a major water authority on the US east coast to safeguard the utility's sites.

It is common knowledge that dogs have better night vision than humans and a vastly superior sense of smell and hearing. Israel 's Bio-Sense Technologies recently delved further and electronically analyzed 350 different barks. Finding that dogs of all breeds and sizes, bark the same alarm when they sense a threat, the firm has designed the dog bark-reader, a sensor that can pick up a dog's alarm bark, and alert the human operators. This is just one of a batch of innovative security systems to emerge from Israel which Forbes calls 'the go-to country for anti-terrorism technologies.'

Israeli company, BioControl Medical, sold its first electrical stimulator to treat urinary incontinence to a US company for $50 Million. Now, it is working on CardioFit, which uses electrical nerve stimulation to treat congestive heart failure. With nearly five million Americans presently affected by heart failure, and more than 400,000 new cases diagnosed yearly, the CardioFit is already generating a great deal of excitement as the first device with the potential to halt this deadly disease.

One year after Norway's Socialist Left Party launched its Boycott Israel campaign, the importing of Israeli goods has increased by 15%, the strongest increase in many years, statistics Norway reports.

You can propagandise all you like; the fact remains that your miserable little country has become the pariah of the Middle East, along with your equally miserable and utterly loathsome Zionist thieves.
So go ahead, post your travelogs, we could do with a bit of political satire.

    Walid Shoebat is a hoax.

The Jerusalem Post states that Shoebat has profited from his story that he was formerly a Muslim terrorist, but has rejected Islam for Christianity.[5] When the Post asked Shoebat whether the Walid Shoebat Foundation is a registered charity, he said that it was registered in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania State Attorney's office said it had no record of such a charity. When asked again, Shoebat claimed it was registered under a different name, but that he was not aware of the Foundation's registered name, nor any other details, which were known only to his manager. Dr. Joel Fishman of the Allegany County Law Library in Pennsylvania expressed doubts about Walid Shoebat Foundation's donation process. He noted that if the money were being given to a registered charity, the charity would have to make annual reports to the state and federal government.[5] On the contrary, Shoebat says that Daniel Pipes has supported him and his claims

For a fellow Christian, I find the man to be very informative, knowledgeable and very affable. If he has problems with his tax exempt situation this should be the least of your worries... You and I should discuss his dissertation only, so far I find him to be very accurate.

Israel is fast becoming a fascist state. It has a disgraceful human rights record. The clamping down on the media and human rights organisation, imprisonment without charge, military trials for civilians and the continuing occupation of the Palestinians land in the west bank and Gaza, refusing a license to a tv channel that is critical of the government,it goes on and on. Israelis are moving out of Israel as they have had enough.

You are not "the third man", you are probably the 100th poster repeating the same baseless, tired, boring slander and lie.

Read and weep: Israel's democracy index is #36 out of 167 countries ranked. Not perfect indeed but in the same ballpark as Italy, France, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Hungary and many other states.

What I stated is true enough and backed up by many reports into those events. Amnesty,HRW,UN and even Israeli newspapers back up everything that I say. That you would like to think it is untrue when the evidence is huge just says that you really do not want to know the truth or know it and want to deny it for your clear agenda to back up Israel no matter what they do.

Let's see what Amnesty says about the supposedly great democratic Israel.

    2011 Amnesty report on Israel

The Israeli authorities rejected or delayed applications for permits to leave Gaza submitted by hundreds of Palestinians requiring specialist medical treatment; a few died as a result. Most of Gaza's inhabitants depended on international aid, which was severely hampered by the blockade. In May, Israeli forces killed nine men aboard an aid flotilla in international waters that was aiming to breach the blockade. In the West Bank, the movement of Palestinians was severely curtailed by hundreds of Israeli checkpoints and barriers, and by the 700km fence/wall that Israel continued to build mostly inside the West Bank. There was a substantial increase in the number of demolitions by Israeli authorities of Palestinian homes, water cisterns and other structures in the West Bank, affecting thousands of people. Israeli authorities also destroyed homes in Bedouin villages in the south of Israel. The expansion of illegal Israeli settlements on seized Palestinian land, partially frozen until 26 September, resumed. Israel still did not conduct adequate investigations into alleged war crimes and other serious violations of international law by its forces during Operation "Cast Lead", the 22-day offensive in Gaza in December 2008/January 2009, during which nearly 1,400 Palestinians, including more than 300 children, were killed. Israeli soldiers and settlers who committed serious abuses against Palestinians, including unlawful killings, assaults and attacks against property, were generally not held to account for their crimes. Israeli military forces killed 33 Palestinian civilians in the OPT, including eight children. Hundreds of Palestinians were arrested and detained by Israeli forces; at least 264 were held without charge or trial under administrative detention orders, some had been held for over two years. Reports of torture and other ill-treatment were frequent, but investigations were rare. Around 6,000 Palestinians remained in Israeli prisons, many after unfair military trials. Israeli conscientious objectors to military service continued to be imprisoned.

    Israel targets human rights groups.

according to the Israeli media, the government is planning a "much more aggressive stance" towards human rights groups working to help the Palestinians. Officials have questioned the sources of funding received by the organisations and threatened legislation to ban support from foreign governments, particularly in Europe. Breaking the Silence and other Israeli activists have responded by accusing the government of a "witch hunt" designed to intimidate them and starve them of the funds needed to pursue their investigations.

"This is a very dangerous step," said Mikhael Mannekin, one of the directors of Breaking the Silence. "Israel is moving in a very anti-democratic direction." The campaign is reported to be the brainchild of the far-right foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, currently facing corruption charges, but has the backing of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Early last month, Mr Lieberman used a press conference to accuse non-profit organisations, or non-governmental organisations, of replacing diplomats in setting the international community's agenda in relation to Israel. He also threatened reforms to curb the groups' influence.

Israel’s eroding democracy: A shadow is cast

In recent weeks, the country has been consumed by an anguished debate over a series of new laws and proposals that many fear are designed to stifle dissent, weaken minority rights, restrict freedom of speech and emasculate the judiciary. They include a law that in effect allows Israeli communities to exclude Arab families; another that imposes penalties on Israelis advocating a boycott of products made in West Bank Jewish settlements; and proposals that would subject the supreme court to greater political oversight.

Recent developments have spread alarm among Israeli human rights activists, unsettled the country’s highest court and triggered fury and dismay among some of its best-known politicians. Tzipi Livni, the former foreign minister and current leader of the opposition, told the Knesset last month that historically dictatorial Arab states were “trying to become a democracy, while we – with these bills – are heading towards dictatorship”.
