As the rationalization continues, it now becomes even more combined with blatant racism...

The story below illustrates that there seems to be a HUGE problem in the 2012 US Presidential election: 16 million missing white votes. Where did they go? Anyone who reads me on here regularly knows that I am not a Mitt Romney fan in the least bit, nor a Barack Obama fan for that matter. Still, that does not mean I am not for truth and justice because I absolutely am. What in the world has happened to 16 million white votes? Have they already disappeared that many Americans via Obamas NDAA? Was it just a bad white hair day for 16 million white voters? We seem to have a problem

I regret saying the word black because it wasnt like I was singling out black, Webster said. The reason I said it, cause I dont know where you live, but where I come from in rural Maine, its a small percentage of the population. I think were the whitest state in the country. So if you go to the polls and see people who are black, its unusual. And when you see a lot of people who are black, like six or eight or ten people, you think, Wow, where do they live? Theres nothing about me that would be discriminatory. I know black people. I play basketball every Sunday with a black guy. Hes a great friend of mine. Nobody would ever accuse me of suggesting anything, he said. What I do suggest is that same-day voter registration without voter ID is pretty hard to police, and its odd that hundreds of people in a small town would show up.

Ohio refugees? We know for a fact it happened but here all you can do is call a man or two racist because they noticed more blacks that they thought they should have. No problems or anything like that.

Aurora's demographic is 88.1% white and 5.6% black and the GOP pollster was surprised to see so many Obama voters and Romney lost Colorado by 3% as a result of the high youth voter turnout. The Obama campaign obviously succeeded in mobilising young and black voters in swing states like Colorado on Election Day despite their initial lack of interest in this year's election.

But take a look at the video of the supposed assault. It enters the scene a bit late -- an SEIU member is already on the ground and appears to be injured, but we can't tell what the cause was. As he's laying there, other SEIU members come to his protection, and one of them pulls down Gladney; both men fall to the pavement. Both quickly get back up. There appears to be little to it. [A section of the video showing the supposed assault is in slow motion.]

Indeed, it's readily apparent that Gladney seems completely unhurt. He wanders out to the crowd, chats with the cameraman, flags down a cop, and saunters back to where police decide to handcuff the man who knocked him down. As you can hear, the man protests that he was just keeping Gladney away from his fallen friend.

The next day, Gladney is at the press conference in a wheelchair. He claims to be too medicated to speak, so his lawyers and fellow tea partiers do it for him.

Does this seem real to you? Sure looks fake to me.

Right-wingers love to bring up cases of fake hate crimes and overblown racial-profiling claims as proof that these phenomena don't really exist to the extent that their victims claim. (See Ann Coulter for the most recent example, but Michelle Malkin has made a minor cottage industry out of this specious narrative.) But they sure do love it when a minority conservative can make a reverse-the-charges accusation (usually involving race) against liberals -- no matter how dubious the claims.

It took a St. Louis County jury less than 50 minutes to return a not guilty verdict in the assault trial featuring Kenneth Gladney and two union members who were charged with attacking him outside a town hall event during the tumultuous summer of 2009.

The altercation itself was regrettable and was over almost before it began: the type of heated scuffle that happens countless times everyday in this crowded country, and everyday people move on with their lives.

But because this particular clash was captured on tape, and because Tea Party members went bonkers hyping it, and because right-wing media carnival barkers like Dana Loesch and Andrew Breitbart operate with no moral compass, the Gladney story blew up overnight and became a (demented) cause celebre among hardcore conservatives who hatched a weird fantasy about run-away union violence in America, not withstanding what was captured on the Gladney tape.

It's difficult to capture just how madly the right-wing media overreacted to this story, doing its best to blow it up into a seismic, Rodney King-type of event. Fox News aired at least 20 segments mentioning Gladney, according to Nexis. Glenn Beck obsessed over the story. Breitbart penned a "I Am Kenneth Gladney" column in solidarity for the Washington Times. And CNN's Lou Dobbs played dumb on a massive scale while hosting Gladney.

In the end, all the right-wing press had to show for their efforts were not-guilty verdicts stemming from misdemeanor charges.

Indeed, the glaring problem with the Gladney tale was that rather than being savagely beaten and kicked, which is how right-wing bloggers breathlessly relayed the "brutal" tale, if you watched the videotape, Gladney appeared unharmed from the one or two seconds he was on the ground. He quickly sprang to his feet and was seen calmly discussing the aftermath of the scuffle with a police officer. (It was actually one of the "union thugs" who suffered a fractured shoulder during the dust-up.)

It was only later that night when Gladney and his lawyer drove to a hospital and started talking to a local reporter that Gladney's injuries appear to have suddenly worsened. Soon after, Gladney was rolled out in a wheelchair for a local Tea Party rally, and from there the story became almost farcical, fueled by Gladney's shifting stories.

As the story dragged on Loesch and Breitbart began inventing all sorts of additional nonsense, like how the attack certainly constituted a "hate crime." (Hint: Andrew Breitbart has no idea how the law works.) They also warned darkly about how local St. Louis law enforcement was in on some massive, Watergate-like cover-up of the beat-down. On and on the idiocy went, and all of it (all of it) was manufactured gibberish that had nothing to do with what happened two summers ago outside a St. Louis-area town hall event.
