I have to agree with Ineffable on this one. It's been stated elsewhere that one of the often overlooked turning points in the election was Hilla's "Deplorables" comment, which made up the minds of many independents as to which side to take. The sheer arrogance of the press, Hollywood, the elites, the pundits - it's turned off the hoi polloi to the point where someone can assault a member of the press and he gets elected. Think about that, think about what that says about how low the press itself is viewed in that light. The press has taken sides - well, it did a long time ago but now there's no hiding it and they don't even try. And that, to me, is the scariest thing of all: That the Legacy Media has declared itself the enemy of half the country...and they like it that way.

There's a thread elsewhere that says in so many words that the right has had enough of being beaten up and is now responding in kind. Wish I could remember who said it, but soon after enough Trump supporters were beaten up, someone here opined that it wouldn't be long before the Trump supporters started striking back, then striking first. That poster was a prophet. I don't like it, but it is the state of the nation today, and I can't see either side standing down at this point. Big problem though: It was one thing when it was mere words, but when the left started using violence at the grassroots level, that might have been the point of no return.
