As someone wrote lately on another site: , but why is that so in 2011 after the Brokeback Mountain movie, and how can homosexuals in the USA and Canada be safe?
Some people still want to 'deny' that homosexual people are numerous/common in this nation and in the world. So, whenever they are see or are reminded that homosexual people are a part of life itself... they trigger mentally through a bunch of biases, stereotypes, myths, prejudices... things that their parents probably damaged them with in childhood. You know, it's one thing to not be homosexual and have an aversion to same-sex 'acts', I can fathom and accept that. But these cruel people who go after homosexual people (whether because of religion, politics or the abject bigotry they've been indoctrinated with), should not be afforded the levels of toleration they've enjoyed until now. I think many more people are becoming aware and reasonable about homosexuality and homosexual people, and that is a good thing. I think it's fair to say that there are many forms of societal neuroses (which I won't list) surrounding homosexuality, some mild and others rather severe. Still, we can help that by accepting the science (what we really know about it) and those people who are homosexual. We know well-enough, that those homosexual people didn't "choose" their sexual-orientation, nor can any person just switch-it... to what is expected or preferred. Yes, some can/will act-out and project the illusion that they are 'heterosexual', but they are certainly "gay". It is now time, to learn to handle homosexuality in far-better ways than we have seen in the past. Gay people are real, they are here with us and always have been. They are a part of nature, not some "freak" of the same. And those who would overly hype it (whether negatively of positively) aren't helping anyone or anything. Just a few thoughts I felt like sharing this morning.
Now that gays are out more than maybe Jack and Ennis in the Brokeback Mountain movie, there is also more ways criminals control homosexuals in 2011?
