It just is, sorry - it's for girls. The boys look and sound like girls, and even the so called "realistic' anime is for girls. As a man I refuse to watch or let my kids watch anime, it's effiminizing our youth. It's gay gay gay gay gaaaaaaaaaay... any guy who watches anime might as well just get "perpetual virgin" tattooed to their forehead - probably the best form of male birth control on the planet. If you're a man, for the sake of the male sex please do not watch anime, or at very least, do not tell anyone, preferably your SO, that you watch anime - unless your a grown man who plays with Barbie Dolls, you don't need to be watching anime (though you probably might want to look into a shrink) - that is all.
Highschool of the Dead. Are you going to tell me that's for girls? Soul Eater. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (Mind you they are 14 years old). Death Note, though I didn't like the Anime very much.
I thank Japan for their anime, they rocked my childhood. Before we had crappy cartoons on tv, then came Goldorak (Grendizer), Albator (Captain Harlock) and so on. Long live Japan!
Dragonball Z is probably the only well-known modern anime cartoon that comes close to being decent, and it's still pretty girly unfortunately. The others you listed are probably 'underground' and not known by the mainstream public.
DBZ is girly? They have a ton of crazy battles, too. The first main villain blew up a planet with one finger in his weakest form. That's badass.
Don't make me break out my Wonder Twin powers on your A$$. Gleek will finish you in a shameful manner for this disrespect. Wonder Twins about to go OFF!!!!!!!!
Are you telling me Death Note is underground? Death Note is one of the most famous mangas out there. And how did I forget Bleach.
Manga = comic books, I've never read a manga comic book, I'm talking about anime (cartoons) - and they might be well-known in the anime/manga fan community but they're definitely not well-known to the average person.
I don't understand what the Japanese obsession with making guys look and sound like girls is. For that matter, why is it even the 'realistic' shows include stuff that would fit more in Looney Tunes - I don't know the best way to describe it, but they'll include stuff like some guy's head growing 10X bigger when he gets angry, etc - it's like they can't decide if they want to be "realisitc" or if they want to be a Looney Tunes cartoon - you can't have both. Either they be realistic, or they be a Looney Tunes-type cartoon that ignores all logic.
What do you think the source material was? And the average person, it's from your perspective. For instance an average person in Japan would know about Death Note. We're talking about people who know anime.
Because it makes it all the better. And the reason why their voices sound more girly, is more due to language and accents, then to them sounding more girly.
The negative obsession with gay is showing up in foreign cartoons? Run for the hills! The GAY is everywhere!
Spirited Away was really good.
I loved Sailormoon and Dragonball Z as a kid. I got really deep into the anime fad for a while and now I am pretty much over it. I still enjoy watching anime once in a while, Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood will always be two of my favorites that just never get old. But other than that I dunno, they just make way too many "1 guy with 5+ other chicks in one house tripping over each other sexually but awkwardly" animes. lol
Freezing is definitely not gay nor is it for children. Neither is Queen's Blade. But, those are for if you enjoy seeing animated breasts that look like they are made of tapioca pudding. (To be fair, animators have probably never seen real breasts to know that they are not.) They are both examples of 'Ecchi suru' anime. A type that deals in erotic fantasy. As a kid I remember watching early anime in the form of Speed Racer on the Wee Willy Weber show on channel 17 in Philadelphia. That and Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato). I was surprised to find a third season of Star Blazers online that wasn't broadcast on TV. They also made a live action version of Yamato a couple of years ago. Steven Tyler did the theme song for the movie. As an adult, I still enjoy watching some of the m,ore hard core action orientated anime. Like the original run of Evangelion. Not the sugar coated version they made for the US market.
I'm sure there's plenty of stuff I like that other people'd think is 'gay' too. To each their own. I'm thinking mainly of mainstream anime shows that have appeared on major networks, there's probably non-mainstream stuff that doesn't follow the typical cliches.
