Meet Mr. Trace Bundy. He is the Jesus Christ of acoustic guitar. He is based out of Boulder, Colorado, and plays shows all over the world. I get see him a fourth time on March 23rd in Denver. Last March I played his song Dueling Ninjas at an open mic/bar. After playing an older gentleman approaches me and asks: "Was that Trace Bundy you just played?" >"Yes it was... Dueling Ninjas and the intro to Cannon. The only part I can play. Are you a fan?" "I am his father." >"Wow. Very nice to meet you. Your son is the Jesus Christ of acoustic guitar, he is so incredibly talented." *looks at me weird, and walks away. So, apparently, religions people do not like their offspring being referred to as Jesus. LOL Canon. The song gets too difficult (for me) at 2:06. Played the intro instead of Here Comes the Bride at a wedding. Dueling Ninjas. Awesome song. Learning to play the harmonics over the sound hole was difficult. Even the Backstreet Boys sound awesome. Nice...Interesting use of capos. If you play with your fingernails, pluck the string with your thumb while lightly tapping the string with your forefinger. Timing is the thing but, once you have it you can throw in harmonics fairly quickly.
I actually do it the opposite, I use my pointer behind my thumb and pick the string that way. They way you describe is probably better though.
Sounds interesting....is that like 'pinching' when you play with a pick? Kind of 'clipping' the string? I have done that but wasn't always successful when I wanted a harmonic so I devised the tapping technique. I'm going to try the pointer behind the thumb-nail thing you described though.
