I just watched this a few hours ago!

 

there is IMO an unwritten exemption for people to tell jokes about themselves, ethnic groups can make jokes about themselves, Russel Peters can make jokes about other ethnic groups because he also laughs at his own as well...Rivers being jewish is free to make fun of jews...

that said I didn't find the comment funny...

 

I never understand people paying to see a comedian that is know to be controversial, then moaning about it when he is.

Why do that?

Why not just not go then?

Same with books etc. If you are so fragile not to read it, and fold like a chair, don't read it then.

What could be more fair and simple!

Back in the early 70's Carlin was incredibly controversial for his 7 words you can't say on tv. He was demonized in some parts and some idiots who paid to see him, actually walked out of his concerts, even tho everyone knew he was going to use the routine.

Imagine swear words in the mainstream being offensive. the times change, it doesn't change the fact that a joke or a word is crude, it merely changes the tolerance of it.

Pretty much. I tend to favor "edgy" humor, and this qualifies as such.

eeezz- I missed a helluva lot while working my arse off battling against those f - ucking SOB parasitic mortgage money lenders to keep a roof over my family's heads.

You know Jack , in the 80s the interests rate was 14-15% . In my case it was entirely due + thx to my earlier Saudi contacts offering me a job , that my wife and children didnt become destitute,+ going into council sheltered housing.

Carlin was the man. I dare say he was the funniest guy of the 20th Century -- or at least the latter half of it.

 

Not a cultural bias, no. Most would be like me, I do not care if the person was female, male, black, white, Muslim, or Jewish, so long as they are funny. Also, there are plenty of female comedians, they are well represented, and have been for long enough. I think men tend to be better vocally, the voice is deeper, it carries better, and I also think men tend to be better natural orators.

Think of all the famous people that speak that really inspired a nation, or a people, or whatever, they do tend to be men, even today, I would argue that male politicians come over better, than the females, by and large. It doesn't mean to see no females exist that can ever be funny, or a good orator, I simply think men incline to doing it better,by nature.

Just as there are probably lots of things that women can often do better,by nature.

But there is something else on top. I think male comedians are far far far more varied in their acts, while women tend to make the act about being a women.

It can be funny in doses, but if it becomes their whole act, it gets boring.

That is what I have found with a lot of female comedians. A lot of Jewish comedians are like that too. It's not that it cannot be funny a bit, but they make their entire act about it,which means it gets a bit boring.
