Joe Biden cares more about keeping globalist high tech companies happy than he is about American workers getting jobs they can do. These people hate the concept of America first. They are not happy about manufacturing insourcing factories and jobs back to America. Biden’s pledge to undo what Trump did is proof positive that democrats have turned their backs on union labor other than those working for various levels of government.

not sure about other field, but for tech, he is telling the truth, me, my friend and many others i know work in tech for long time is the prove. many CEOs or top excutive from apple/google/intel/amd/nividia etc etc are immigrant or 2nd gen immigrant, they 1st got their H1B, then green cards, then citizenship. During 2008 downturn, the only industry that had very little layoff was tech.
right now tech job demand is so high that many company wait for 6 month or more to try find someone qualified. some give up and sub-contract to outside after they coudlnt' fill the # of positions.
of course if trump ban H1B, it benefit me more, since demand raise means my salary goes even higher, but its bad for the company and overall US dominance in tech. Though it could backfire as company shift high tech jobs overseas. 50-60% working force currently in silicon valley are foreign born, another 10-20% are 2nd-3d gen immigrant descend. even more foreigner work in academic and R&D, they dont just create jobs, they create industries. though like i said, it will just mean tech worker will get higher pays, perhap for senior engineer $200k current entry lvl engineer(fresh grad) depend on location vary from $55-$80k, more if the person got master or PhD. i never heard someone who grad from decent engineer school, didn't find an offer after 6 month of searching. Now imagine the salary raise if we ban H1B, and lose those skill worker to india/china, the effect on US tech. of course i will get payed more but its not good for US national security.

 

It’s time that they hire Americans to do the jobs rather than firing them so they can bring in someone for less money. The main reason tech hires so many foreigners is so that when they make decisions the nation they are HQ from plays little role in them.

No Biden is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, we are not producing nearly enough SMART GRADUATES from our high schools and colleges and universities, especially MALE STUDENTS. If you are a regular TV watcher as I am you will no doubt have noticed how many Covid knowledgeable doctors, most if not all of INDIAN heritage, as their experts. Most valedictorians both at the high school and college level today are FEMALE. We need foreign brainiacs far more than they need us to help grow and create our new businesses.We need all the smart intelligent people we can possibly lay our hands on.

no its not, like i said, tech has HIGH demand and low supply, many company can't find enough engineer to do the jobs. as an engineer, it actually benefit me greatly if they ban H1B tech worker, cause i can ask 50% more for my salary. most senior engineer already making 6figure+, where entry level making 60k+. also company hire those qualify the work, not base on their country of origin. if they do the later, they will eventually lose competitiveness against other company. furthermore, many high tech can outsource some those task to india/china or other place if they dont have enough tech worker to do the jobs.

the current unemployment has almost no affect on tech workers, cause most can to telework at home.

 

except most kids dont want to be in STEM field. can't force them to be engineer or math degree

 

So the Question is why don't kids want to be in these fields? I don't know the answer but maybe we should look at those who want to be in these fields for the answer.

I think most young adults today would rather be reality tv stars than doctors or scientists or working in tech fields.

 

its not easy, most kids dont like math/physic etc, popular kids usually are those on football team, not nerds whos good at math and science. also, most asia kids parent are academic driven so they push their kids to have good academic.
