House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has lost a secret vote to remain his party's nominee for House speaker, several Republican lawmakers told reporters.

Jordan lost the ballot by 86-112, Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., said. She added that Republicans will leave town for the weekend, and members have until noon on Sunday to declare their candidacy. A candidate forum is expected Monday.

    ...
Jordan ends his bid for speaker.
Behind closed doors he had more against than for.

I am a conservative and I am glad Jordan failed. I am also glad the GOP is in disarray. If I lived in Gaetz district in Florida, I would vote for the Democrat.

I as an independent, who voted R more than D in state elections, had stopped voting all R's since 2018.
To many cowards showed their true colors in dealing with narcissistic 2x impeached.

    I can't vote for cowards.

Looks like McHenry will be the interim speaker until they can get off their egos. At this point in time, I don't see the Republican loose cannons, backed by Trump, willing to do anything unless they get power.

Repubs could have avoided all this by standing up to trump when they had the chance, but they were too afraid of his cult to do the right thing, and now they are paying the price for their cowardly dereliction of duly.

Eh this hatred of competent speakers goes back to Obama. They couldn’t stand that Boehner would make deals with him and dems to keep govt functioning.
The last one they like, Hastert is available I heard.

Really republicans never learned to govern as the majority. They did ok for a minute with Newt and under W, but the decades before that where they were always the house minority, really robbed them of that ability.

I have thought that a Republican president and a Democrat congress works well. But then we had 6 of 8 years of Clinton with the exact opposite that resulted in a balanced budget. Interesting.

Now that they have DROPPED Jordan as the Nominee...
    The question becomes Who's Next?
Minority Whip Tom Emmer has been mentioned, and received McCarthy's endorsement...
McCarthy had failed to endorse previously...

Of course, any deal to grant McHenry more power seems dead...
Republicans, unable to agree on a speaker, also rejected a plan to temporarily give the acting speaker more powers

The House Republicans are playing in kindergarten. Meanwhile, Biden plays on the world stage. Not even the Biden haters are blaming him currently for the handling of the Israel situation. Maybe, however, some of them will rethink their support of the MAGA bomb throwers in Congress. But, then, Fox News will soon come up with a way to blame it all on Biden and the Dems anyway. And all will be well again in MAGA world.

That also led to trade agreements like NAFTA. And jobs fled the country.
Although, eventually it led to good economy, it really set back workers wages for a few decades.

Fox lies becomes less relevant every week.
They couldn't even get Jordan the speakership.

Republican Congress men and women are receiving threatening communications from their own constituents because they did not vote for Jordan.

Their day of reckoning is soon nye
    They did it to themselves.

Jordan is not a leader. Jordan showed us long ago that he lacks decency when he looked the other when he protected his coach friend who diddled student athletes. A friend of perverts should never ever hold a leadership position anywhere.

To bad for you Trump was a better president than Obama or Brandon.

Otherwise, you would have a point.

There's nothing to 'handle' in Israel, two extremist cults are trying to kill each other and the US has failed through multiple administrations to get them into the 21st century, Whoever wins, a massive loss of life is going to result. That sucks, but it is what it is. As far as the world stage, the Ruskies/Ukrainians are in the same boat, the difference there is the freaking ridiculous financial and military commitment and the dogged down fighting, which we should use leverage to create a peace deal everyone can live with.

Pelosi may have hung around like a sewer rat, but that doesn't make her an effective speaker. It meant that like many career politicians, she knew the right knob to turn.

Pelosi was one of the most effective speakers in America's history.
Not that I expected you to know that.
