Yes, self-entitlement is a huge factor. There is a different standard for celebrities and politicians are above that. I don't put other humans on pedestals so I don't get it at all. Being an actor is a job just like any other job. They aren't "special" or anything. I've said it often since last year but I'm grieving the loss of what our country once was. I'm afraid we're too close to the edge right now and I don't know if can rein it back in.

It's nice to hear that your government actually upholds the law instead of cherry picking which law breakers are excused due to something superficial.

Lol…trump would be hauled away for perjury if he ever dared to testify under oath. He can’t help but lie.

Yes, he very allergic to the truth. In the past, he just folds his arms and says "I can't recall." to every question and it sounds like he passed that polite cooperation (read as: anything but) onto his kids.

Like the judge said, "pointing out the defense could play videos of what Trump and others said at a rally that preceded the attack."

There is no use in having Trump testify.

And frankly I find the defenses argument to be rather idiotic. Even IF Trump et al "goaded" the guy into doing what he did that does not absolve him of having done what he did. Not even in the slightest. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. No one else.

Trump clearly stoked these morons into doing what they did, but whether he is directly responsible for it is unlikely. As has been said many times, he did not specifically tell them to go riot or facilitate it in any meaningful way. He was more like an idiot kid playing with gas with no idea that damage he could cause. That's sort of Trump's style in general, except you have to add in that he may not care even if he did know.

All that said, I don't see a defense of "Trump made me do it" working in any of these cases. Trump was detached enough that each of these intellectual giants who decided to riot in the capital building, all of whom would have known better if they'd have exercised even a minimum amount of judgment over believing men like Trump, made their own decisions of their own free will to enter the building and do what they did.

Trump is responsible for his role as negligent instigator riling people up with lies. The rioters are responsible for their role as rioters.

This here might be the closest thing I've seen that would be accurate in relation to the 1/6 riot as far as Trump goes. Incitement and insurrection both requires intent. I don't believe Trump tried to do either.

That would be entertaining from the start, both sides would probably declare Trump a hostile witness. :)

He's a lawyer's worst nightmare under oath but in deposition he can likely manage. Under courtroom cross, they would never put him on the stand, that's suicide.

I agree on your conclusion about Trump's intent. I don't think any of what happened was part of a plan he had. I don't think he even had a plan. I think he was still reeling at that point from his election loss, and not acting rationally.

I noticed you didn't highlight the entire sentence. That he was stoking people up with lies is just as important as his being negligent. It still doesn't equal intent, but it does underscore the irresponsibility of what he was doing.

In order for him to be telling lies he has to believe/know that they are lies. That is why I didn't highlight it. Besides, while I don't believe fraud happened as in the Democrats planned fraud. But I do believe that the election was rigged. Mainly due to their own admission here: LINK: The Secret Bipartisan Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election | Time And the fact that citizenship isn't actually checked with the IRS database. Something that I have felt needs doing to really secure our elections for 2 decades.

A good defense lawyer pushes blame on anyone or anything handy. However judges don't let anyone testify unless they have probative value.
