Even the dumbest year 10 economic student would be able to understand the direct correlation that Australia’s mining/resources sector is driving Australia’s housing bubble and it entire service sector.

Some people are just so stupid, they actually have no idea how many other businesses owe their livelihoods directly to the mining/resources industries.

The majority of people in Australia are so dumb and backward, it just plain sad.

These stupid people are not only allowing politicians to sell off every major public owned asset, but the same stupid people are facilitating the demise of their own employment and jobs in favour of refugees/illegal boaties and 457 applicants that are coming here.

I saw one moron last night on Q&A whinge and whine about 457’s taking his job, but then advocate that Australia should have an open door policy on refugees and asylum seekers. LOL LOL

These stupid Australians have absolutely NO IDEA how easy politicians made it, so a business could get a 457 worker, and under-cut the “Aussies” workers.

Advertise for a couple of months. Have a few interviews, and then say no one was experienced enough, and then send off your application for a 457 worker. Even if an experienced Australian worker attended the interview, who is going know - its no as if the interviewee gets to write anything on the 457 application form. LOL LOL

I personally know of five 457 visa workers who came out from Fiji as so-called professional aluminium welders on a 12 month assignment. It now been 3 years, and not one of them has went back home. In fact, two of them have had their wives join them in Australia… LOL LOL

I am not against all 457 visa’s. In fact, Australia does have a shortage in specific professional labour, but Australia does NOT have a labour shortage in welders, mechanics and miners, and these trades could be easily filled by Australian living here

Unfortunately, 457 visa workers are being brought into Australia under the disguise of doing professional specific labour like: welding, mining, mechanics and being general dogs-bodies.

There is a reason why TAFE is always under funded and the first to have their funding cut, but dumbarse Australians just cannot see the bigger picture. Why put money into training Australians, when one day really soon, they can bring out foreign workers for half pay.

 

You call 30% of GDP " a tiny % ", it`s not tiny. In fiscal terms, 30% is massive, the mining boom is a massive gift that will be very unlikely to last much longer.

 

The boom is only a few percent. We would still have mining without the boom.

There has already been talk of Swan wanting to tax superannuation & should count as an austerity measure, maybe to head off the IMF?

Many people here seem to confuse family spending were a home & maybe a car is purchased with a loan (debt) & pay it back over many years & then put aside money for retirement. However with government spending, when most world governments accumulate a debt the next government only adds to that debt & eventually debt gets so high that front line public servants have to be fired such as nurses, policemen & teachers because no more money can be borrowed to pay the interest on the money that was already borrowed.
Australia is not at that point yet but if demand for our exports crashes it becomes not just a debt level problem but a bigger revenue problem as well.

 

I know that the ALP ,is imploding and will not be resurected as the working Class has had enough of the betryals ,lies and sellouts.everything lives and dies and after 130years the ALP ,is dying and the splits are the process of its death.
