Whoohoo! Who says a black man can't get justice in America? I was seriously of the opinion that the Chicago PD were going to give him a complete pass.
They'll probably plea bargain it down to 6 months probation and community service to avoid giving him a felony conviction. Although one article is saying the lawyer he chose isn't one you choose when you want to plea bargain but when you want to fight it in court.
Why not give him a felony conviction? He deserves it And, he can be charged in federal court also as well as state court

Haha! That would be taking whitewashing to a whole new level. Whitewashing sometimes bugs me, like why didn't they get Bruce Lee to play the Chinaman in Kung Fu, but watching opera kind of cures you of caring about the race and/or sex of the person playing a part. When you have to suspend your disbelief to the point that you can accept a black woman (younger, btw) playing the part of a white woman's father, the person playing the role becomes less important than his/her performance in the role. Hundreds (thousands?) of Western plays have been performed in Asia by all Asian casts and no one complains about the race of the participants. These days, whitewashing is really unnecessary for characters who are or should be obviously of another race, but for lead characters or parts that are not racially specific, who cares. John Wayne got a lot of flak for playing Genghis Khan, but would you really try to hunt down the world's best Mongolian actor to play the part? Would the world's best Mongolian actor have done a better job? (I haven't seen the movie, but going by the reviews, maybe he would have.)
