No, my solution to America's problems is to deport all of those who are economically or speaking-illiterate! The days of immigration(Mostly European, BTW) has long since come to an end. There are over 300 MILLION Americans in this country. 300 million! We cannot support a Chinese-like expansion(not even the Chinese themselves can support it. Hence the One Child policies). Apart from their economic or speaking woes, they're also woefully lacking in Patriotism!(See the Cinco De Mayo incident in California)

There's no reason to do this to ourselves, other than ideology. “It seems that in the advanced stages of stupidity, a lack of ideas is compensated for by an excess of ideologies.” A real American immigration policy would be far more selective and far more self-aware of how many numbers it can self-sustain.

Does that include deporting American citizens who are economically illiterate or are guilty of poor speech patterns?

No, those we'll reform through education programs.(Education Reform, my next big pet peeve. Our education system is grossly outdated.) See, an American even an illiterate one will end up spending in the American Economy. The immigrant? Not so much. The macro-economic weakness of the US has brought it down from world power to declining status. How much longer are we going to resist the facts, before making necessary adjustments? Is any other country embracing these policies? Is any other country more prosperous for it?

If these policies are as grossly ineffective as they have been, we have the moral obligation to change those policies. There was an immigration policy that worked, and an immigration policy that failed us. That immigration policy that failed us, is the 'country of immigrants' nonsense. No, every country has a native population including this one.

A lot of my doctors here in Florida are immigrants and a more educated, concerned, and productive group it would be hard to find. If we are going to start deporting people I can think of a lot of Americans who make less contribution to the well being of our society.
