To be honest, I am amazed that this only happened now and not earlier!

What makes me disgusted again is the stupidity of the US politicians and media in the matter!
Of course, Biden threatens the perpetrators with retaliation, which is also ok ... BUT ... against better knowledge, the Taliban are threatened because of it, although the IS has admitted it.

No ... the Taliban are of course not innocent angels or the like, but religious bastards of fanatics. Only, they weren't here the one doing this attack, but ISIS ... but that's exactly where all the stupidity and ignorance in the US comes to light!

How many people in the USA ... especially the people who need to know because it's part of their job ... know that iSIS have also been active in Afghanistan for many years?
And how many know that ISIS and Taliban are not only completely different, but are also at a bloody war with each other since years?
Yes, you read that right, both are having a very dirty, bloody war with each other! Should the Taliban capture an IS fighter, he will be hanged directly in public or worse ... and vice versa as well!
And that IS is at war with pretty much every other Islamic extremist and terrorist group ... for example Al Qaeda or Hezbollah ... is also a fact!

And? ... how many here in the forum knew that?

So punish the Taliban for an act of the IS ... does not seem to play a role for various Americans, also to hunt down and punish the right one.

I joined here because I wanted to understand the issues better because I have two children and care about their futures. However, I've changed my views.

Before joining, I honestly and sincerely believed that MOST were good people that sometimes made bad decisions or mistakes. But, the CORE values were aligned with what we say our values are.

I no longer believe that.

 

Yes ... some Americans knew that, of course. But even with those who know that, there are actually some, they don't care about the difference.

I certainly don't hate the US and / or the American people. I am also not an "I love Putin" or "I love China" person and believe their obvious propaganda lies ...

But what I generally hate, regardless of who and by whom, is hypocrisy, arrogance and ignorance.
Unfortunately, this has always been the case with the USA as it is with everyone else ... and unfortunately many Americans still believe that all of this is not true, or rather the bullshit that was and is being told there and that is light years away from the truth.
For example, the reasons for various wars and military operations against various bloody dictators were and are also to liberate the people and bring them democracy. Great ... only at the same time around a dozen other similar evil dictators are supported by the USA, because they are friends of the USA. Where are the US's core values?

 

Unfortunately our 'core values' are increasingly whatever 'TV' (and etc) tells us they are. At least that's what 'the 51%' tend more and more to manifest.

 

That makes perfect sense. White Americans have all the privileges so they don't have to care about anybody else even if those people are also American and/or positive contributors to society and/or just as Patriotic.

EVERYONE different from them is a "second class citizen". (Clearly, NOT ALL white Americans feel this way but these forums prove it's not just a little corner market).

And, if they don't want or care for all the Americans that don't look or love or believe like they do, there is no chance in hell they would care about Non-Americans that don't look or love or believe as they do.

I was thinking about something earlier today. I used to watch this tv show I really, really liked (that's a huge deal because I usually don't watch tv AT ALL). Amazon used to run a forum on their website IMDB for people that wanted to talk about movies, tv, etc. So, after each show, we would go to that subforum and talk about it. One day, I posted that I thought the episode was good but it wasn't one of my favorites. You would have thought I said "Let's get together and execute the guy that wrote this show." It was CRAZY. People were actually threatening me.

I honestly do not understand how people can shout about their right to Free Speech while wanting to deny others of their Free Speech.

So, like you, I don't have any particular loyalties or love ALL <this thing> or ALL <that thing>. The ONLY two things I'm ALL in on:

My children
My country (and not the part of our bullying and exploiting other countries)

That's it. Everything else is fluid depending on what's happening. You couldn't have paid me to believe that other US Americans would be okay with our president doing NOTHING which resulted in the deaths of 400,000 people, negotiating with terrorists, pilfering our money with price gouging. I would have lost that bet.

I get "loyalty". I don't get "blind loyalty".

The ONLY people that matter are the ones they can use and then they still don't matter as they get thrown away after being exploited and the same people that exploited them calls for them to leave our country or stay in theirs (depending on which type of exploitation it is) and rewrites history that nobody outside them ever contributed anything to society, America or the world.

Have you ever wondered why in the middle east, a predominantly Muslim region, with an almost homogeneous ethnicity, why "leaders' are successful in turning citizen against citizen?
