Kamala Harris launched political career with $120K 'patronage' job from boyfriend Willie Brown

Kamala Harris’ first significant political role was an appointment by her powerful then-boyfriend Willie Brown, three decades her senior, to a California medical board that has been criticized as a landing spot for patronage jobs and kickbacks.

Then 30, Harris was dating 60-year-old Willie Brown, at the time the Democratic speaker of the California State Assembly, when he placed her on the California Medical Assistance Commission in 1994. The position paid over $70,000 per year, $120,700 in current money, and Harris served on the board until 1998.

The medical commission met twice a month, and Harris, a United States senator for California since 2017 and now a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, missed about 20% of the meetings each year, according to commission records obtained by the Washington Examiner.

No. But on the other hand certainly I have never read any leftist generated criticism of her political path and -- as a for instance -- also no leftist criticism of the fact that -- by her own admission -- she prosecuted people for drug usage while she herself was an illegal drugs user or as this O.P. points out she slept her way up the career advancement ladder. So a roll model for the nation? No. But evidently she DOES represent solid modern day Leftist values and for that she deserves praise . . . or laughter.

Whether she screwed Willy Brown or not, she seems very intelligent, witty and articulate whenever I have seen her appear. She is also extremely attractive. The fact that you guys are already trashing her with dirty cheap shots also speaks well for her.

I agree that Tulsi Gabbard would be an amazing candidate and could become a great President who might even be able to quell this never ending Democrat vs Republican silly turd throwing contest. Harris would certainly not be my first choice, however if it ends up being a two way race Between Harris and Trump, I hope she would win.

 

From what I've seen, and I'll admit it's not that much, her basic platform is to identify the issue of the day and move farther to the left than where the other candidates stand.
