This is a russian anti malware company that uses malware to combat competitors that needs to be removed from any Americans computer.
On this one thing we agree. Several years ago I bought a computer from Best Buy and asked the Geek Squad people for their recommendation for computer security software. They recommended Kaspersky. I used it until a couple of years back when I developed an intense mistrust for Putin.
I used to have a Kaspersky chess game that was the devil. It learned your style of play based on how you played games against it in prior games and used it to crush you at the upper levels. In the real world, I am a solid player, but that game just walled me off. Anyway, use whatever program you want. They all have their pluses and minuses. The greater variety, the more likely some will be protected. Deleting the pre-installed commercial anti-virus program that come pre-installed on any computer is the first thing I do out of the box. If you let them run until they hit their paywall, they have become so persistent that they are much harder to control panel away.
I understand but is there really any evidence of this or is it just paranoid rumor? IIRC they were the first to come out and say they could unlock the San Bernadino shooter's phone if the government would turn it over to their labs which in turn kind of torpedoed the government's claim that only Apple could do it so Apple must be ordered by the Court to do it.
The evidence really isn't so much the issue as anytime you buy a Russian product you have to assume collusion with putin so to speak. Kaspersky has already been connected to cheating in the past
And every time I buy a product from China, I am colluding with communist oppressors. In the end, as a consumer, I want what I want for the price I am willing to pay for it or I won't buy it. Who profits really doesn't matter. One devil is just as good as another.
Maybe I have exposed some Putin apologists. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ity-kaspersky-has-close-ties-to-russian-spies
Pretty amazing how after only 30 years those who were sympathetic with the Soviet Union became Russian McCarthyites.
Kaspersky smoking gun found on US systems... About 15 Percent of US Federal Agencies Detected Kaspersky on Networks November 14, 2017 - About 15 percent of U.S. federal agencies have reported some trace of Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab software on their systems, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official told Congress on Tuesday.
I have a problem with the FBI pointing out a commercial concern as being part of an international conspiracy. That's not the FBI's job. The FBI carefully states that government agencies are not to use Kaspersky on THEIR COMPUTERS. They managed to skirt the law in doing so. This makes me think the FBI has trouble breaking into computers with Kaspersky. That is what Kaspersky is supposed to prevent. The reality is that the FBI has actually promoted a commercial product in a roundabout way. Steve
