Kavanaugh: 'I will not be intimidated into withdrawing'

Brett Kavanaugh on Monday said he will "not be intimidated into withdrawing" from his Supreme Court nomination after a second woman came forward with a sexual misconduct allegation against him.

Kavanaugh sent a letter on Monday to Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) — the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, respectively — saying the accusations against him are "smears, pure and simple."

"They debase our public discourse. But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve our country. Such grotesque and obvious character assassination—if allowed to succeed—will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service," Kavanaugh said in the letter to Grassley and Feinstein.

"I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last-minute character assassination will not succeed," Kavanaugh continued.

Kavanaughs daughters are now receiving death threats. The Democrats plan here is backfiring, and yet they can't stop because they know they have lost the supreme court for a generation.

 

About time someone stands up to the smear machine.

 

Good because if he backs down he sets a precedent that will be unfair to young men that all you need is an unsubstantiated rumor to be destroyed

Just saw an excerpt from the show tonight and low an behold the guy was a virgin well into college. Wow the me too movement is persecuting a guy that is the very thing they want all men to be. Unreal.

 

This is what the left calls not wasting a good crisis. If Kav is confirmed the left is going to campaign on how republicans hate women. If he backs down they'll still campaign on how republicans hate women and they'll have destroyed a good man.

When all is said and done, Kav shouldn't sue his accusers, his wife should.

 

They pull public discourse in the gutter when they hinge on allegations instead of substantive things. They don't have the votes, live to fight another day don't try to rewrite society norms just to win today.

Its hard to take serious these accusations. The vast time gap and the fact all the allegations are made by then drunken teenagers seems to decrease the validity of the claims. There are no solid details, no evidence, and more people denying wrong doing. I'd say Democrats should be ashamed, but I guess shame is the first thing you lose when you bed in the muck for so long...

Ford can present a video of Brett ass ****ing her and he'd still be confirmed. The Republicans control the WH, the Senate and the House. SCOTUS already leans right and it will lean even further in a week or so. This is just a circus orchestrated by the Democrats as a lead in to the election. Feinstein could have launched this the first week of August, but waited until the end of September. Why? Just like I said, for the midterms.

 

I disagree, if the accusers are lying the left will simply forget after a few months. If Kavanaugh is lying then the cons will scream fake news and ignore it immediately. Neither side has any morals or integrity remaining.

It won't matter in a couple of months. Being appointed a Justice is for life. Getting handsy with girls in college isn't an impeachable offense.

The best the Democrats can hope to do is delay this until after the election....which is why the Republicans will push it through as quickly as possible.
