This, one may recall, is the guy who said that Hitler supported Zionism.

Well, his threat to take the Labour Party to court for a judicial review worked and he has not been expelled. So the party did the next worst thing they could and renewed his suspension

    What should he do now?

Clearly no reasonable person would conclude that his remarks were actually anti-Semitic. His behaviour around the issue nonetheless might be construed as bringing the party into disrepute, which was the charge for which he was suspended.

I would like to see him fight it out.

It's all about image and perception; the Labour party is in turmoil and needs to be seen to be doing something, even if it smacks of tokenism.

I wouldn't worry too much. I think 'Free Speech on Israel' are doing a good job to make clear that following Israel and condemning as antisemites all those who have sympathy for the Palestinians is not the position of all British Jews and not accepted as antisemitism as Oddquine and I were discussing in the thread on this in the Western European section - http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/labour-mp-demands-livingstone-resigns.454163/page-2 from post 24.

I say it you want to do more following and supporting them would be one way.

I searched threads for Livingstone before starting this and the existing thread didn't come up. Maybe I had a typo...

I find the situation quite interesting because it potentially exposes some sort of alignment of Labour neo-Liberals, the BBC and the Israeli lobbyists. The way the BBC and popular press in the UK has reported the issue has been something of a revelation to me, and I would be lying of it didn't affect the way I felt about the Brexit forecasts being pumped out at about the same time. It feels like impartiality is being dumped for idealism...

Did you not see the Al Jazerra videos of the Lobby from the Israeli Embassy creating all kinds of friends of Israel groups run from the Israeli Embassy, making plans to 'bring down. members of Parliament who believe in rights for the Palestinians and making sure MP's ask questions to make sure the Parliament moves in an Israeli Gov friendly way - for instance supporting the 2014 war. A very big intrusion on the right to free political thought and sovereignty in the British Parliament. I will give you my search and you can look around

    Check out all the videos.

As far as Brexit goes, one of the major intrusions appears to be people who were friends of Farage who worked for Trump - they were able to avoid usual rules on donations etc - another foreign interference in our democracy

I put in a thread on that as well. ;)
