If they were firing at you and you were armed, you'd quickly disarm, right? Prostrate yourself on the ground and hope they didn't hurt you?

The "right wing" philosophy on this subject is that if citizens were armed, the National Guard wouldn't be shooting at them.

That is a pretty ridiculous statement. The guardsmen murdered the students by firing indiscriminatingly from a distance. They would have hit anyone with a gun first.

The Righties here would have fired on the students too.

 

Now who's making ridiculous statements? I'd never fire on unarmed people who are simply protesting much less fire blindly into a crowd. Not everyone who was killed or wounded that day were even part of the protest. It was government power run amok which murdered those students not "righties".

I watch enough of the YouTube you cited to appreciate the calm and non confrontative disposition of the pro gun speaker & feel that it is possible to differ on issues yet discuss them calmly, civilly & respectfully.

We can relax.
The facts are on our side so we don't need disingenuous ploys to make our point.
It is simple.

There are 80 countries in the world(1) with higher homicide rates than the US, none of them have our equivalent of a 2nd Amendment, all of them have draconian gun bans so if draconian gun laws & bans were universally effective, why are so many other countries enduring higher homicide rates?

Of course if you chose to cherry pick, you can find countries with lower homicide rates & draconian gun bans but that popular ploy among gun control/ban proponents is logically flawed.(2)
I believe that it is neither accurate nor productive to try to compare America to other countries.

Please don't forget that gun control/ban proponents not only avoid facts, inflate America's gun homicide rate & make disingenuous comparisons but they also must rely heavily on appeal to emotion......"for the children" as if 2nd Amendment supporters were indifferent to child victims of gun related bloodshed.
