House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and several MAGA Republicans rallied around Donald Trump on Saturday ahead of the former president's possible indictment by a Manhattan grand jury.

Trump, in posts to his social media platform Truth Social, predicted that he would be arrested Tuesday and called on supporters to protest, citing "illegal leaks." Hours later, a spokesperson for Trump clarified in a statement that the post was shared without any notification of an indictment beyond media reports by NBC News and other news outlets.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” McCarthy wrote in a tweet...

…Congressional Republicans closely aligned with Trump, a 2024 presidential candidate, expressed outrage, denouncing the potentially looming indictment.

Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, the third-ranking Republican in the House, called Trump's possible arrest "unAmerican" and said Democrats have reached "a dangerous new low."

"Knowing they cannot beat President Trump at the ballot box, the Radical Left will now follow the lead of Socialist dictators and reportedly arrest President Trump," she said in a statement shared to Twitter, calling him the leading Republican candidate.

Speaking at the Vision '24 National Conservative Forum on Saturday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., downplayed the Manhattan district attorney’s case and said he thinks prosecutors are "afraid" of Trump.

“The prosecutor in New York has done more to help Donald Trump get elected president than any single person in America today," Graham said.

He added: “If I were President Trump I’d take this all the way to the damn Supreme Court."…

This cocky arrogant DA has not a clue as to the potential ramifications of what he’s doing. The man who has downgraded so many felonies to misdemeanors in his term and barely wins half of his cases is going to do this. Charge a felony where others saw no crime? The outrage is strong and fully justified.

If democrats think that they can unify the country by doing this they are sadly mistaken. The anger and outrage by doing this will be real and fully justified. If it happens we will unify behind Trump and rally for him to the hilt as long as this lasts and longer if they dare to convict in this faux show trial. We will elect him President from behind bars if that’s what it takes. MAGA red forever. Trump 2024!

Political prosecution could destroy this country unless it is matched with Joe Biden being impeached and prosecuted by the Senate for his China and Ukraine connections.

Prosecuting a former president for such a mundane nothing burger doesn't make the prosecutors look very good. Time and money could've been better spent, you think?

I am trying to think of why it is the job of the Speaker to launch investigations into a state or local prosecutorial body simply because of Trump having, possibly, been indicted.

The more trouble MAGA makes, the more dangerous you will look.

Go out set fires and break stuff for Trump, you'll look like disciples out on the street for their guru.

No, that’s what the democrats are doing. Charging Trump here is the weaponizing of government.

The investigation is of federal agents and agencies not of a state or local agency.

There won’t be any breaking things or fires. That is what the left does. I’m not sure what we will do but I can assure you that arresting him would divide the nation like nothing has since 1865 and we will do nothing to heal the rift as long as it goes on. We will double down on our support for him and honor him and in red areas we will build statues of him and name roads and buildings after him. We will honor him like no other human being and wave our support in the faces of the bicoastal secular progressive elites. We will make a living martyr of him.

You will support him even if he broke the law? You think he’s above the law?

If the maga hordes want to riot because their great orange hope is going down, that’s their right, misguided as it is.
But if an elected public servant tries to put their fealty to trump ahead of their sworn duty to the constitution, then that’s treason and should be handled accordingly.
They’re either with the US or they’re with trump.

Whatever. We don’t care. We will support him. Period. The more you people persecute him the deeper we will dig in our heels in support of him. Those who do this are being divisive and dividing the nation. The vast majority does not support this effort. We will not passively sit back and let this happen to us silently. Biden should unconditionally pardon him prior to any trial without any admission of guilt because if this happens to Trump, we will move heaven and earth to exact revenge upon Biden and put him on trial for his many crimes the instant the next president is sworn in.

Remember that time he threatened to withhold US taxpayer funded aid money from Ukraine unless they fired the prosecutor investigating his son's shady connections to a Ukrainian gas firm that he had absolutely no experience with but yet was paid an obscene salary?

....oh yeah.... Nothing to see there
