Kitty won't tell, Up or Down?

Another viral conundrum. What say you?

 

I'll say the cat is running upstairs but in reverse.

 

It is going down. If if the stairs were the most backwards laid out step treads ever, the shadow indicates down unless the same person who built the worst steps ever also put a light in the worst place ever.

 

Well you have the perspective right, but kitty is running up the stairs tail first. She's scared of the weird camera man who smells like old spice and is backing off.

 

The light source could be coming from the top or the bottom of the stair case.

 

The shadow is in front of the cat. Most stair cases are not lit at the bottom but at the top or else you would have a light shining in your eyes as you walk down them. Likewise the background is a light color as in a white ceiling (which is common) as opposed to white carpet (which is not so common). The photo has been color altered to disguise what otherwise would have been the obvious answer. The cat is going down.

 

If the staircase led into the attic, the light would be at the bottom of the stairs.

 

Cats BOUND up stairs (front feet together) and RUN down them. This cat is running (one front foot at the time), therefore this cat is coming coming DOWN.
