So, an idiot then? By your logic surgeons, nurses and other hospital staff must be absolutely riddled with communicable illnesses such so that "hospital worker" is a euphemism for certain death. However that is not so PROVABLY. Why? Because Masks, worn correctly, and PPE stop the spread of communicable illness.

 

Care to comment on the case of NZ where after a lockdown and strict border control there is now no community transfer of COVID 19.

~ Hospital staff / healthcare workers normally wear face shields and respirators when dealing with infected patients. Masks do next to nothing - and the public is certainly not wearing them correctly. Death tolls in the U.S. are dropping. That is the important result .

 

Have you ever BEEN in a hospital? They commonly wear masks. Yes in Covid wards they wear more than that but they are SURROUNDED by the virus there.

But in the normal course of their duty they wear the equivalent of N95s and suffer no ill effects.

~ N95 is not a mask - it is an FDA medical approved respirator device. So is the vented P100 respirator . This is what you wear if you are at high risk. Surgical masks stop large droplets only and are mostly used over an open surgical procedure.
Everyone wears a mask where required - not just you. 1 Find another rant to concentrate on. Perhaps sneezing in public - or washing hands ?

You're misinformed if you believe it's only the morbidly obese. Regular obesity, and even moderate excess weight, puts you at significantly greater risk. Every kilo above the baseline (14% body fat for women, and 6% for men) puts you at increased risk .. because every kilo above that is adding an unnecessary burden to your system. A system which needs to be fully available to fight off viruses.

They wear masks in surgery because it is a sterile environment. They wear the masks to protect the patient they are about to open up. They wear the masks so that their germs being exhaled do not get into the body cavity or elsewhere of the patient being operated on.

Every study has caveats. Funny how you and the other alarmists only seem to care about such caveats when the study in question goes against your authoritarian orthodoxy. But when the study seems to promote your political agenda, you blatantly ignore any caveats and present the study as if it were God-given. Yeah, it's called herd immunity. The virus spread throughout New York like wildfire and killed off most of the vulnerable population (thanks in large part to Andrew "Grandma Killer" Cuomo sending infected patients to nursing homes). It had nothing to do with the disasterous lockdowns.
