    I was wondering...

Is there a law that prevents scientists or NASA employees from disclosing any discoveries of anomolies or possible intelligence in space under threat of termination and/or prosecution? Granted, this does not mean that this is done for the sake of silencing a revelation of alien conspiracy, but I wanted to know if a law lik this existed at all.

There is a law against government workers using their office to obtain and divulge information which they know has been classified as government secrets.

Furthermore, an individual judge could issue them an order, and threaten to hold them in contempt if they did not follow it. Federal law allows for someone to be held 1½ years without trial, if the judge makes such a determination.

No, anything like that would be big news but there is an unofficial gag order on reporting anything that is against the administrative agenda and that is why there are anonymous whistle blowers reporting on the latest convenient change to the temperature data used by the US to promote the administrative climate change agenda. After all, who wants to lose their job reporting the truth?

The only laws apply to classified information. I worked on the military side of the space program for many years. If there was proof of alien life, it would be too big to keep a secret. We have a hard enough time keeping "smaller" information secret. Look at Edward Snowden, Jonathon Pollard, Christopher Boyce, John Walker, and a host of others.

My dad worked on the stealth program when he worked for Northrup, he had a top secret clearance.... I remember asking him what he did, and he wouldn't tell me and I was 7-8 years old, then finally when the project was declassified he told me he worked on an "invisible plane", then I told my friends that and they didn't believe planes could be "invisible" lol...

All I really know to this day is that my dad built/designed experimental radar systems, which I would assume were being tested to detect stealth technology... In short I think they wanted to see if he could build a radar system that could detect a stealth aircraft...

I'll say this much, I think he knows a lot of stuff and he just doesn't want to talk about it.... Every time I bring up what he was working on he just changes the subject, that or will give short answers or say something like "sure"....

Well, I think the government likes to keep things broken up - meaning they have people working on different aspects of a technology, to the point where it would be difficult to put the puzzle together...

They just cant have all access projects, I'm sure there are a select few that have all access but that is about it..... I'm sure most don't even have a remote idea about the bigger picture....

That's true to an extent, that's what SCI information is by definition, compartmented. But there's some information that is just too widespread. If you think about NORAD, there are thousands of people watching radar, infrared, and other frequencies for anything flying over North America (atmosphere and space). Then we and other countries watch space for dangers to our satellites, spacecraft, and ISS. There's all kinds of crap in orbit (most of it we put there) but we track it all. We have missile warning systems and ICBMs do go into space and generate heat on re-entry. We have people monitoring for nuclear detonations anywhere in the world, and in space. Then we have spy satellites. Now that's just the military/space program assets. You have radio operators, air traffic control, university and USGS seismometers (which can pick up things like sonic booms and electrical disturbances too), and a population that is pretty widespread over much of the USA. I find it quite far fetched to believe aliens visited or visit us and it's not well known. But then I went to Roswell HS, and so did my Dad, so feel free to include me in any conspiracy theories.

He can't be too careful. Unlike Hillary Clinton, regular people go to jail/get fined all the time for divulging classified information.

Well, I think that if someone was working on alien technology or back-engineering technology they wouldn't know it....

I don't know what my dad knows... All he will say is "I built radar systems for Northrup".. Of course I will say "And" lol and he will say "I built radar systems for Northrup"...

    IDK it's weird....

C'mon, I don't think my dad knows anything about aliens, but I think he has some sort of knowledge he cant talk about - even 30 years after he left the program...

Hey, I have tried to get him to talk but he won't ...

    Maybe it is aliens lol...

    His clearance was pretty high...

Well, until that information is declassified, he can't talk about it. He can't just change the header on the email :)

If there is it wouldn't surprise me! Not that any of them would disclose anything, law or no law.

I don't know about a legal gag order. but there are numerous accounts of former employees being silenced ! There is also the following which NASA is adhering too :

Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs, often referred to as "the Brookings Report," was a 1960 report commissioned by NASA and created by the Brookings Institution in collaboration with NASA's Committee on Long-Range Studies. It was submitted to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics of the United States House of Representatives in the 87th United States Congress on April 18, 1961.[1] It was entered into the Congressional Record and can be found in any library possessing the Congressional Record for that year.
The report has become noted for one short section titled, "The implications of a discovery of extraterrestrial life," which examines the potential implications of such a discovery on public attitudes and values. The section briefly considers possible public reactions to some possible scenarios for the discovery of extraterrestrial life, stressing a need for further research in this area. It recommends continuing studies to determine the likely social impact of such a discovery and its effects on public attitudes, including study of the question of how leadership should handle information about such a discovery and under what circumstances leaders might or might not find it advisable to withhold such information from the public.
While not specifically recommending a cover-up of evidence of extraterrestrial life, Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs does suggest that contact with intelligent extraterrestrial life (or strong evidence of its reality) could have a disruptive effect on human societies. Moreover, it does mention the possibility that leadership might wish to withhold evidence of extraterrestrial life from the public under some conditions.[4]

It doesn't seem to be too much of a problem judging by this thread:

    http://www.politicalforum.com/russi...nt-talks-about-release-e-t-data-part-2-a.html

Russia's Government talks about Release of E.T. data. (Part 2)

I thought that this was an exceptionally interesting thread that deserved to be continued past the limit.
