Everywhere I go I see people who do not appear to have any handicap, taking spaces designated for the handicapped.
It seems to be epidemic and one of the symptoms of a society full of selfish, hedonistic takers.

In fact, I haven't observed a single person exhibiting ANY debilitating handicap emerge from a vehicle parked in a handicap parking spot in YEARS.
Granted, they may have underlying issues, but 99.9% of the people I see walk and move as well as I do or better.

I strongly believe that in the majority of cases, it's just scum of the Earth losers taking advantage of the system. Same as welfare.

I have a friend who suffered from polio early in life and has had absolutely no use of her legs and very limited use of her arms for 40 years now.
It is RARE that she can ever get a handicap parking spot and usually has to park near the end of parking lots because people with very mild or non existent, fake "handicaps" always have taken the spots.

    This needs to change !

Hey, I hope someday you get to see firsthand how hard an "invisible" debility can be. Frex, Happy Hip Dysplasia

And HOW do you know all the other handicap spots aren't being taken by "real" handicapped?

What is needed is more handicapped spots, but what your ilk REALLY wants is that we take all the handicapped spots away.

The company I work for has it's main office in downtown Sacramento. With Sacramento being the State Capital and the county seat there are a LOT of government workers. There are also quite a few federal office buildings in the same area. Every street in the downtown area has metered parking and there are several parking structures as well. If you can find a parking spot on the street it's much less hassle than parking at a parking garage several blocks away and walking. But that's a BIG IF during the week from 9 to 5, because ALL those metered spots are taken by the government workers. In California, anyone with a handicap plate or placard displayed does not have to "feed the meter", so all the metered spots are taken by government hacks who have manipulated the system. Show up around 5 P.M. on a weekday and you can watch them swarm out of these buildings like rats leaving a sinking ship and not a one appears to need handicap parking.

Your comprehension skills are as weak as your probable fake excuses for taking up handicapped parking spots unnecessarily.
Unfortunately, the USa is full if your ilk, non productive people who focus on themselves and feel they are "owed" something at everyone elses expense.

I specifically excluded people with REAL handicaps in the OP. But you chose to miss that. Go back and look for this wording...
"because people with very mild or non existent, fake "handicaps"
You just outed yourself as one of them.
I'll bet you have absolutely no remorse when someone with no legs has to park at the end of the parking lot because even though you can hustle into that electronics store to grab
that gadget you wanted at olympic sprinter speed, you couldn't care less about anyone else.

And btw, whenever I talk to any of these people who walk perfectly fine, no limp, actually move better than I do often, they ALWAYS have some lengthy explanation....
but what it boils down to is being a low life in most cases.

People who are truly handicapped deserve the spaces. Most who park in them do not.
And that is unjust to people with REAL limitations.

We probably all have examples we can offer of people abusing it. I know a lady whose significant other (not married) has a placard for a heart condition. When she goes out shopping, without him with her, she takes his placard from his car and puts it in her car so she can park close because it "makes it easier to get in and out." We had a rather unpleasant discussion when I heard that come out of her mouth since I have several relatives and friends who truly are handicapped and need those spaces when they go out.

Yes sir, you hit the nail on the head. Yours is a perfect example.
I have an elderly friend who had polio and is truly handicapped. She has no use of her legs at all and barely can use her arms.
Her daily life is a living hell that I cannot come close to imagining how she gets through each day....

Yet she tells me she rarely gets a handicapped parking space because of people like you just mentioned. And still she doesn't complain.
Our "politically correct" society is indeed about as foolish and self destructive as they come.
