Just started watching it on Netflix and I'm already hooked. In fact I got to get back to it right now to see what happens next.
if you like lost also try Fringe,24,the shield and the show numbers..there are more but i cant think of them right now..
Lost is one of my favorite shows. Sorry I got to do this, but I wish someone would have told me this before I got hooked: they're not going to answer all your questions. It's not going to end as well as you hope it will. Still an awesome journey, though.
Is Lost even still on the air? I never got into it because I heard that it was basically 'made up as they went along', so I expect it would be bad.
It ended three years ago. I only made it to the beginning of Season Three before I got bored. It also didn't help that the show kept piling on more mysteries that were never answered.
I felt like they did pretty good with it. They left some questions open, but answered most of them. They made an interesting reason for what happened, had a pretty good origin story and gave the whole thing some good closure. I liked it.
I don't care where it ends up, I'm just going to enjoy the ride. My favorite character is Sawyer. I hate him because he's such an (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*), but I like him because he reminds me of me.
Well, it's a good show and I admit I enjoyed the ride, but I don't think you are going to like where the ride ends. It was a slap in the face to the fans/ But the quality of writing was so good throughout the show it just might be worth it.
i prefer to watch shows like these any day than any reality show with made scripting ..sure shows like lost has some flaws in the story line but remember it is fictional..
They answered: - Why were they there? - What was the black smoke? - Why were there polar bears on the island? - Who are the others? - Where is the island? - What is Dharma? - Who is Jacob? There were a few others too, but I don't remember them all right off the top of my head. Sure there were a few holes left, but I felt like they closed it as well as they could have. In the end, when a series draws that much attention from that many fans, it is impossible to end it in a way that makes even a majority happy. I felt like they did pretty good with it. You have to admit it was better than the way the Matrix series ended.
He sure does, and his delivery is awesome.
I like that Hurley dude too.
Did you not watch the last season? Nearly every one of those was explained that season. Actually, the polar bears were answered much earlier, as was the question of the others. The where of the island was in the second to last season, as was the Dharma question. Some people don't like the explanations that were given, but they were explained.
Thank you. BTW - As far as spoilers the series was over a couple years ago. I people didn't watch then and are getting the cd's now, they should avoid any thread that is about LOST.
^ This. For the most part, it was an excellent show, and I certainly enjoyed the journey also, more than most shows. However, they left MANY unexplained questions - including some of the huge ones. And the ending down-right pissed me off. Almost to the point that I regretted watching the show at all. - - - Updated - - - I have to agree with Alfalfa - no, they didn't really answer those questions. For some, they provided a half-assed hand-wave, which doesn't count as a proper explanation in my book, but nothing that really explained most of them. And there were MANY more that they didn't even attempt to explain. It's been so long since I've seen it though, and I've since forgotten the incredibly long "unexplained list". SPOILERS: For example, the smoke monster... If I remember correctly (and I admit, I may not), all they really said was something to the effect of that it was created as a sort of protector, or guardian. But that was basically it. They didn't explain what it actually is - as in, what everyone actually wanted to know. What is it made of? How does it work? How can smoke move like that? How can it grab and manipulate objects and people? Why does smoke produce that creepy mechanical sound? Etc.
I guess the problem is that people didn't accept the basic premise - that the island is the source of some special energy - basically that the island is magic. The smoke was Jacob's brother, half of their mother's abilities - the island's protector or enforcer. Jacob was given the other half of her abilities - the ability to do nifty magic-y things for and to people. Overall, most of the complaints about unanswered questions seem to be going deeper than the show intended. For instance, the sound of the smoke monster. One blogger answered that one very well. "It sounds that way because that is the way it sounds. Why does a dog's bark sound like a bark?" Why should the show's writers explain why the smoke sounds like it does?
I kinda got the whole "magicy" deal, but you're right, I guess I just didn't really accept it. They didn't really present it that way, even if that's how they meant it to be. Even so, I don't remember any all-important over-arching "why"? As in, why are they telling this story? What purpose is there for a magical island and magical people with magical powers? It never went that far. Like I said, I still greatly enjoyed the show, but I guess I just feel like it never went as deep as it could or should have, or even as deep as they tried to make it seem. Everything was only just scraping the surface and it always felt like the greater substance was just out of reach.
