Well to try to make a long story relatively short, a family that we've been trying to help out for some time now and have gotten to know pretty well have really (unfortunately) hit rock bottom both financially and health wise. a couple nights ago we got a phone call from the mom who very hesitantly asked if we would be willing to care for her 3 children ( ages 1 1/2, 3, and 5 1/2) indefinately until they can hopefully get back on there feet. they've been in and out of homeless shelters for a couple years now, living off state services and now DCF is involved, things where getting really bad. so without hesitation we went over to the shelter and stayed with her for a while, and ultimately brought her 3 boys home with us to care for for as long as it takes for her to get on her feet. once we got home we got the boys cleaned up,fed and in their pj's we (my amazing wife and I) started discussing how we are going to swing this, this came without any warning and no time for preparation. financially as much as it will be a struggle I have complete faith that things will work out fine, a few sacrifices here and there should make up the difference we need for extra groceries, diapers etc, but then we where trying to figure out where they are going to sleep...now we have 2 extra bedrooms upstairs but I'm not comfortable with these children being on the second floor because I don't want any of them to fall down the stairs, and the youngest one really needs to sleep with at least one of his older brothers because it just makes him much more comfortable. I also don't want to leave them unsupervised through the night because I'm afraid if they wake up in an unfamiliar home they might get spooked or get into something unsafe. so me and my wife are trying to piece together our options, which means that she is sleeping in our bed with the 2 youngest boys, we pull out the sofa bed, and my son happily volunteered to sleep there with the oldest boy so that he doesn't feel all alone, and for now I'm sleeping on a chair in front of the wood stove in case anyone gets up in the mid of the night I don't want them anywhere near that stove for safety reasons. so while we are piecing this all together and the boys are are tucked into bed, and I'm sitting in my chair realizing I'm going to get one terrible nights sleep if any sleep at all for that matter, I couldn't help but to think of ...Malachi 3:10 Malachi 3:10 New International Version (NIV) 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the LORD Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. These (and all ) children are truly a blessing, and the lord has given me more blessings that I can even fit in my home (figuratively speaking of course), and I can not wait to see thier smiling faces in the morning
Wow, you have your work cut out for you..I raised 3 of my own and had many of their friends over for extended periods of time..our house was always the place for kids to come to because my ex-wife and I always kept it fun.. That's a very kind thing that you are doing.. however, reading between the lines here something doesn't seem right.. a good mother doesn't give up her children like that, not even for a few days.. I have a feeling there is drugs involved with her..I hope I'm wrong.. best of luck.. Go Raiders!!
