I have been consistently opposed to our military action in the Middle East for as long as I have been conscious.

Clearly installing a pro-West, anti-Russia dictator in some shithole country 14,000km away is not a good reason to displace 5 million people. I'm skeptical of their stated aims, I think the mass migration was their aim, not a side effect.

No refugee should ever be accepted by a nation that's not the closest safe country to their previous home. Only war and political persecution should be justifications. In exchange, we should leave the ME alone.

The Pakistani girl was in Australia for a few days for public talks in Sydney. She doesn't know much about the country's refugee policy. Britain's refugee intake is only 5,000 a year and she was grudgingly accepted as an exceptional case. Australia attracts too many boat people or illegal immigrants because its annual refugee quota is set as high as that of the United States, which is an impossible goal. I think boat people will stop coming if the annual refugee quota is lowered to 2,000-3,000 to be proportionate to its economic size.

Well, you are correct and I was against any action in the ME. There is a continuous stream of war or action medals since WWII. That comes with trying to maintain Western influence worldwide in opposition to Russia or China.

I am glad Trump is pulling out of Syria because we were ther in the first place for regime change which Bush got pilloried for by the same people that started arming the Syrian rebels.
