I'm not necessarily very proud of it... But this is a road I've walked down myself.

And I mean it when I say this, if any forum members think this is a good idea reach out to me and I'll tell you exactly what's at the end of this dead-end ass road.

Well my good lady, I'm not ashamed to tell the truth and shame the devil..
For about 2 years I thought math was a good idea. And then one day I woke up and I said to myself you know what I'm not going to live like this and I'm not going to die like this.

And that was about 8 years ago. And there's nothing you could do to this day to get me to take another dose of meth.

But please anyone here on this forum who has experience with this send me a private message and we can talk.

I have walked several miles in the shoes of a fool

Possibly one day what I have shared here will be thrown back in my face, but should anyone find themselves reading this and perhaps think about doing that should that day come to pass.... Remember this.... I am not ashamed of who I am and where I've come from and what I've done..

I will never be ashamed to have been recovered. And if anyone here finds theirself struggling with substance addiction I invite you to speak to me and I don't care about your politics, just talk to me and I'll talk to you.

I love you all even if I don't show it sometimes.

Google 'is Springhill a Tampa suburb'. The very first entry says it is. And it is in Hernando County, where the authors placed it in the story.

The fact that he gave the cops the baggie is permission to search and seize. They won't need anything he said to prove he was in possession of meth.

That won't hold up in court. They would have prove that he said some version of he "thought I bought meth but suspect it's bath salts" and not "I think somebody put some drugs in my bath salts".

Since I also saw this story, a couple of days ago, on The Daily Show, w/ Trevor Noah, I would expect that it is merely a real story, in which there is a small, pretty meaningless detail-- unless this guy's town is really a suburb of Miami, in which case it would rise to being a minor detail-- which is in error. Not a reasonable excuse, to doubt the entire story.

As Noah had flawlessly argued, a pretty good test, to know if your crystal meth is genuine, is its leading you to call police, to come check the authenticity of your meth.

P.S.-- For the slow-witted, who say they don't want to interact with me: once more-- you don't HAVE to ANSWER, just because a post uses your quote. Since this is (or was) an ongoing conversation, I am really directing my post to any others, interested in that discussion, but using your quote, only as a seemingly good entry point.

I can't speak to your question about the photo. But I think you are mistaken about your Miranda rights point. Those only need be read, when a suspect is taken into police custody. But if you walk up to a cop and say, "hey, there's a guy, who I just killed, around the corner,"
the cop is not going to say, "wait, I can't arrest you, based on that freely- offered confession; let me Mirandize you, first, then tell me again."

I did a little further research and according to the arrest report he admitted to owning the meth post Miranda notification, so that won't be an issue.
At the bottom of the story there is a link to that document.

I have no idea whether or not the photo is a real booking photo or not, but I note that it was similar to most of the mug shots on the mug shot pages.

If this was a hoax, someone went to way more trouble that it was worth.

I lived in Tampa for 16 years and I have also been to spring Hill. Tampa is Hillsborough county. Spring Hill is Hernando in between those two counties you have Pasco county so it's two whole counties away.

The biggest city near spring Hill would be Brooksville.

There is what appears to be a real arrest report attached to that story as well. It's at the bottom labelled 'view source document' in white, highlighted in red. Unless Melbmuser went to the trouble of creating an entire site to prank us, I'd say it's legit.

Correct. Pre-Miranda can't hold up in court.
Thanks. I had not looked at that until just now. It does appear to be a valid part of a police report.
It's not a standard police mug shot unless they've changed the procedure in that area. The backdrop is the wrong color and there would be a profile picture. A zoomed out photo would also show him holding a message board with letters.
I don't doubt that people call the police and talk themselves into trouble.

I also have absolutely no reason to question @Melb_muser's veracity or decency.

I question the validity of this specific article being accurate and complete as it's written.

I'm just repeating the information given to me by Google. I will say though, that I grew up in a small town in a rural county forty miles or thereabout from a major city. It was considered a suburb of that city even though there were other cities nearer to us and easily twenty miles of the forty separating us from that major city were farmland.

What makes you think that the site is full of bogus stories, instead of just oddball, but real stories? They provide a realistic- looking copy of the police report. But, for some reason, Chrome does not want to paste it.

Are you able to copy & post that police report/affidavit of probable cause?

Or are you in on the prank conspiracy?

EDIT: Never mind, I see the document did post, just not where I'd expected it to.

    Screenshot_20220317-014402.png

Of course, I now notice that it is stamped with the words UNOFFICIAL DOCUMENT. So good on al those who picked this out as a fake-- which had also fooled The Daily Show-- right off the bat.

I don't doubt and Tampa is a very large place, but if you were to tell anyone in Tampa that spring Hill is a Tampa suburb they would look at you and say no no it's not.

Carrollwood, citrus Park, Town and country Seminole heights these are all Tampa suburbs.

I thought someone said that this was posted as satire but at the very least it's sloppy journalism.

I am AMAZED-- sorry, but I had to show my level of amazement-- that you could have worked with the police, as well as (I have gotten the impression) with so many people who have had problems with drugs (and so probably also with police), and still not think that people can, "talk themselves into trouble," with police. First of all, since you try to describe the appearance of a meth- head, I would be surprised you would not notice what was so obvious to me, with much less experience than you seem to have: namely, that once someone on meth starts talking, there is no stopping them.

Secondly, lots of people talk themselves into trouble with police, most especially, people who are under the influence of some drug substance. I had a friend when I was in my late teens, for example, who was drunk & walked into a police station-- I don't remember why-- but apparently didn't like their attitudes, so ended up getting arrested. He related to me how they "tortured" him-- and I am using the word very loosely, here-- all night. The next day, they gave him the choice of being released without being charged, or to be charged, and he took the latter. I am sure this kind of thing is far from unknown, among substance- abusers.

I get what you're saying. However, most of the returns I got on the search said it was at least in the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater metro area. Many of those called it a suburb.

As to sloppy journalism, I don't know. Presumably most of those hits were written by people who had at least been there. Having quite a few sites making similar claims and repeating the as an unimportant detail in a story doesn't appear sloppy to me. Time and budget constraints could easily preclude verification of an unimportant point beyond a Google search. The major point being that a guy went to some cops and asked them to test his meth without considering the repercussions if his dealer were honest. Personally, though I hope the guy gets the help he so obviously needs, I find that lack of foresight hilarious. As a bonus, I feel better about myself knowing I'm not the only bonehead in the world.

Addiction is never a good thing, but millions can do drugs or alcohol recreationally without getting addicted

I have seen people's lives ruined by that legal bath salts, I think it overheated the brain or something

meth was the result of coming down hard on cocaine
