This guy obviously had issues. I don't know where he got his inspiration, but it looks like a case of suicide by cop. He shot up buildings outside the Austin Police Station. He chose the middle of the night to do his damage and didn't shoot a single person. He obviously had the cop who shot him outgunned, yet he didn't target the officer.

You know, that's a very good point - the guy was so overarmed he could have taken out a small squad of police, but didn't hit anyone - combine that with the criminal history, maybe he just wanted to end it all. Suicide by Cop - you're likely right.

I'm still waiting for the examples of people on the right calling for "open rebellion". Of course, some will translate simple disagreement into the equivalent of calling for an armed rebellion.

That doesn't mean that they won't try to invent some connection. Maybe they will search his house and find a copy of Al Gore's book.... Oh wait, wrong maniac.

“Here is an individual who preliminarily looks like mental health was a part of his problem. Hate in his heart was a part of his problem,” Acevedo said.

The investigation is ongoing. Acevedo said police were searching his electronic devices. Combs said they were looking into several areas of McQuilliams’ life to better understand why he carried out the attack.
