    Maybe the GOP forgot that they wanted the President (through the Secretary of Energy) to sell oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve?

    Republicans in the House said they would fix gas prices. Don't worry.

    Which oil supplies are being blocked by Dems and Biden? They could approve permits, but how long would it take to put shovels into the ground until the oil is extracted?

    Especially since so many of these permits are already going unused. And public land only accounts for, what, maybe 10% of our domestic production? Our oil companies could increase production any time they wanted. They don't want to. Their financial incentives are to keep production low for now.

    If the permits don't get approved they will never be a shovel in the ground.

    If the shovels hit the ground, will oil supply increase next week? next year?

    Lowering strategic oil reserves to bolster elections chances is as ****ing scummy as it comes.

    100% trying to buy elections by making the country vulnerable.

    The hyper partisans don't care, the ends justify the means. They are just as scummy.

    The "work" they have done is nothing more than reinforcing their own ability to stay in power at any cost.

    Stay scummy Biden.

    I don't know and I'm not privy to that and I don't think you're an industry insider so I doubt you are either but I do know if the permits don't get approved nothing will happen

    He didn't say that at all.

    Biden had to release reserves to bring prices down before the election because his energy policies suck.

    How about not passing crappy energy policies and then having to bail out the democrats election prospects?

    Crazy idea.

    don't be gullible. He did it for you for your vote, he couldn't care less about your wallet.

    Same as student loan forgiveness he IMMEDIATLEY abandoned after the election.

    I guess, for some, Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason.

    If they could, you know that at least the Freedom Caucus, would require Biden to purposefully damage the entire country, and Republicans like the one, to whom you'd been responding, would totally support it; that is all that there is, to their calculus: if it helps Republicans, it's good; and anything that hurts Democrats, helps Republicans. What it means to Americans, is irrelevant.

    But since MJT & the crew can't force Biden to derail our economy, they are going to try to accomplish that, on their own.

    The only people who think strategic oil reserves exist is to lower the price by 80 cents are those that think government exists to nanny them.

    FACT CHECK: the number of permits, issued under Biden, went UP, compared to under the previous, Trump administration.

    https://biologicaldiversity.org/w/n...st-year-drilling-permitting-by-34-2022-01-21/

    <Snip>
    WASHINGTON— New federal data shows the
    Biden administration approved 3,557 permits for oil and gas drilling on public lands in its first year, far outpacing the Trump administration’s first-year total of 2,658.

    Nearly 2,000 of the drilling permits were approved on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management’s New Mexico office, followed by 843 in Wyoming, 285 in Montana and North Dakota, and 191 in Utah. In California, the Biden administration approved 187 permits — more than twice the 71 drilling permits Trump approved in that state in his first year.
    <End Snip>

    But buck up, the main point of the article, gives you something that you can use, to realistically criticize Biden over:

    <Snip>
    “Biden’s runaway drilling approvals are a spectacular failure of climate leadership,” said Taylor McKinnon at the Center for Biological Diversity. “Avoiding catastrophic climate change requires ending new fossil fuel extraction, but Biden is racing in the opposite direction.”

    I don't see that as a solid argument for ANY position.

    The bottom line is that oil is a world wide commodity.

    People were seriously concerned about inflation that came from two sources - the problems with supply chain and the problem of rising oil prices due to Russia and the war in Ukraine.

    So, Biden sold some oil to try to bring oil price down a bit. Also, he tried to convince OPEC to increase oil volume. I don't believe either worked all that much, but those really are the only possible directions.

    Trump tried to get OPEC to help RAISE the price of oil by producing less. The Saudi's shut him down on that, too.

    Marjorie Taylor Greene is just plain crazy. I do NOT know why ANYONE listens to any of the nonsense she spews.

    Her last proposed bill in the House got 14 votes! So, maybe congressmen are figuring out the MTG problem.

    Republicans were LIVID that Biden didn't do this earlier in order to lower inflation.

    So, he did it and now you want to whine about THAT!!
