Green Lantern, Superman, Spider Man... these are pretty well established characters.

Granted I'm not a comic book buff but I the only black superhero I can think of off the top of my head is Blade.

There are or were several human Green Lanterns so it's not the same thing. Green Lantern didn't turn black. Another human character got chosen.

The Lanterns are always hiring and they have an active diversity program.

so awesome to see all these conservatives coming to the realization that everything they love (organizations, businesses etc.) doesn't subscribe to their archaic opinions when it comes to non-white races, non-heterosexual lifestyles etc....

now they can't even read marvel anymore because they have a black CA :roflol:

... to replace the current green lantern of earth (space sector #2014). Like Sam Wilson is getting tapped to replace the current Captain America. But no, Hal Jordan didn't turn black... anymore than Steve Rogers did.

Aaaaand as stated....they are all White characters.

None of them were Black characters that turned White. Pretty simple. Not sure what you are missing here....

Forgot about him, but yup. Another solid established Black character. You'll never see him do a Nick Fury.

John Stewart was black, replaced by Kyle Rayner (who was white). Amazing Spider Man #252 was the black spider man, and the man of steel was black (Adventures of Superman #500). Spider Man and Superman are both white today.

Still missing the point. Heres an idea....google out the first issue of those comics, and tell me what color those characters were established as and stop the nonsense.

As an example, you do NOT get to start at Spiderman 252...ignoring everything prior...and say Spiderman is a Black hero. Spiderman was always a White hero....who as we see, are able to be swapped in and out at will, while the Blades..Falcons...powermans etc...will stay as they were created.

Google them out, let me know what you find...Ill wait.

The original black Power Man Luke Cage or the Hispanic (Dominican) Power Man Victor Alvarez (current)?

Actually the ORIGINAL hero to use the name "Powerman" was a Caucasian named Erik Josten ....then Luke Cage (the most well known, and Best one) Now as to victor Alvarez....

Wow, what a change! :giggle: They went from White...to Black...to a Black Hispanic....

Wake me when the current Power Man is changed to a Swedish American with Pale "Caucasian" skin. (not going to happen)

Thanks for at least dropping that other nonsense like Superman and Spiderman...

I'll check back later, going to go play some Nosgoth.

Marvel stopped bothering with continuity back in the late 80s. They have rebooted almost all of their superheros repeatedly by now.

The Falcon and Captain America have a long history together, he was a natural pick to fill the boots.

Give it a year or two and the original Captain America will be back, most likely souped up with an even more powerful version of the super soldier serum.

Eirk Josten was a villain. Who later became Goliath (taking on the title from Bill Foster, who was black) and fighting Iron Man (James Rhodes, who was black).

    Erik lost.

Will Al Sharpton say this new Captain America is an Uncle Tom?

Nah, but were he real then he might just try and sell him some nose candy; keeping his hand in the drug trade just in case the race-baiting and race-agitating gig ever goes belly up on him.

This is garbage! I'd be pissed if they changed Blade to a white man!

Correct he was a villian....but created in 1965 was the first person to be called "Power Man". Luke Cage took this name in 1972. In either case, this is yet another example which reinforces my statement.
Black Heroes, (IE Heroes who were created as Black characters), dont turn White, while the reverse is becoming pretty common.

As to Goliath....sigh....here we go again.

    and..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goliath_(comics)

Another swing and a miss Im afraid Taxpayer. Goliath was also originally White, and in usual fashion in comics, someone else stepped in and borrowed the name for a bit...
Same as James Rhodes. The reader always knew it was someone standing in for the original hero.

These were not Black Superheroes to begin with.

Seeing the pattern I claimed yet? It's getting stale as a concept. If Marvel wants to mix it up a bit....make Black Panther a White Guy for a stretch.

Exactly, but dont worry.....thats not going to happen. Some characters are off the table when it comes to changes like this.

Probably right about that. I hope so. I like the original character, his backstory really fits nicely with the persona.

Times are changing there's no wonder about it... soon we will probably have a gay hero. Think that the mighty Achilles actually was bisexual...

Oh that ones already been happening. There was a Gay Green Lantern, a Gay member of Alpha Flight....probably more too. I havent read comics as much over the last decade as I used to, so may have slipped behind a bit. But rest assured, all the "protected" classes are there.

Marvels going to have a hard time though beating Ace and Gary from SNL...
