Mass shootings and Police shootings

Is it just my imagination, or has there been an uptick in mass shootings and police shootings in the last month or so?
There were mass shootings in Atlanta GA, Boulder CO, the doctor and his family members in North Carolina and at the FedEx place in Indiana.
Then police killings of Davounte Wright in Minneapolis, Andrew Brown Jr in Elizabeth City North Carolina, the 13 year old boy in Chicago and the 16 year old girl in Columbus, Ohio just a few days ago.
I don't have any of this written down; it's all been so recent that I can recall it easily.
Are we living thru a period of increased violence or is the media just highlighting certain stories?

It's people wanting to get back to "normal" times.

 

I've heard some people say that it's a media ploy for Biden to take away gun rights.

I've also heard that it's by design to distract from the situation at the border.

I've also heard that it's way to keep people riled up about race relations.

I believe it's a combination of all three (and reason #758,929,756 I no longer watch the news).

 

There were 36 killings of blacks in New York City over the weekend. All done by other blacks. By guns and by knives. Don't here anything about that on CNN or any other liberal media outlet other than Fox News. Don't here much about the 16 year old girl in Ohio ready to stab another black girl either, do you? Good thing the police officer shot and killed her before she could stab her.

 

Actually it's not much more than any other year. But the fact that it seems to be coming just after the covid lick down anniversaries and after the left managed to essentially outlaw rational policing in big blue cities is likely more than a bit coincidental.

 

Sad that we're so concerned over a handful of "mass shootings" when more people are killed via basic murder on a busy weekend in Chicago than by white mass shooting episodes for the whole year.

 

I don't watch the TV news the way I used to either. The above stories that I referenced were on YouTube news sources.
Maybe I need to stop watching so many YouTube videos too.

If the media is scared of negative news stories involving Blacks, why do we see so many of these stories?

 

I've always found it bizarre that the news is constantly filled with death, destruction and/or mayhem and then people pop anti-depressants. Makes no sense to me. This is not directed at you, personally. It's just a general observation I've had.

 

I've heard of the first and third reasons that you gave. The third reason, keeping division between the races, seems to have some truth to it. Divide and conquer.

 

Yes, the news is depressing.

 

It looks like the number of mass shooting casualties is relatively flat within a range. Generally 150 deaths per year or less.
