House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthyintroduced the GOP's "Commitment to America" package on Friday, Republicans' shared sales pitch ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

McCarthy came out swinging in his speech, accusing Democratic lawmakers of ignoring rising crime, decrying restrictions on parental rights and promising to repeal the recent expansion to the Internal Revenue

The agenda includes a slate of general policy recommendations in four broad categories: "An Economy That's Strong;" "A Nation That's Safe;" "A Future That's Built on Freedom;" and "A Government That's Accountable."

"We want an economy that is strong. That means you can fill up your tank. You can buy the groceries. You have enough money left over to go to Disneyland and save for a future — that the paychecks grow, they no longer shrink," laying out what Republicans say they will do if they gain the House majority. …

This is a very good plan. It’s goals are realistic and doable. Following it would greatly benefit the American people.

The parts about the border, the IRS, and education are crucially important

They get it right as reported here:

Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, and Roma Daravi, former special assistant in the Trump White House, participated in a Friday conversation with Newsmax, together promoting the tenets of the House Republicans' "Commitment to America" pledge — in advance of the upcoming midterm elections on Nov. 8.

In a nutshell, the Commitment to America document promises a strong, thriving economy, an accountable government, a future that's free, a nation that's safe, and a repealing of the Democrat-driven Inflation Reduction Act — specifically the portion that adds 87,000 Internal Revenue Service agents over the 10 years.

This contract indicates "Republicans are running for something, not just against Democrats,"

Not really. Most are fine with the current status quo. There’s no party plan to take away a right to kill that doesn’t actually exist in the 1st place under the constitution.

Here we go again. Don't fall for McCarthy's BS. I looked and couldn't find a plan anywhere in all this. The only actual mention of anything real was in the NY Post link that said they were going to do something about the 87,000 IRS agents.

Now, considering everything that is happening in this country, is THAT the priority of the GOP?

Unbelievable. Another wasted two years, here we come.

Good for you to be able to criticize your own side. This is a rare trait these days.

Well, based on past performance, the GOP will work on passing more tax cuts, just like their UK counterpart populist Truss did. Why? Because tax cuts is the ONLY thing the one-trick pony has in its arsenal -- other than exploiting social issues like immigration. Now, maybe a conservative can explain to me how a tax cut will reduce inflation in the current environment.

Note in edit re. the IRS agents: Enabling tax cheats, the new platform of the Trump party.

it’s the democrats who have the majority in the house, senate, and have the White House. It is their record, their border, their economy, and their agenda affecting parents rights and personal freedom that we are running against and creating a positive alternative to. We are creating something we can stand proudly for rather than just saying we are against your sides ridiculous policies.

Haha, I can stand up there too and claim I'll fix inflation and give everyone prosperity without any plan of how to actually achieve it. No surprise that you fall for this cra%. You just have to believe.....

Only a liberal would think that there are anywhere near enough tax cheats to need 87k more IRS agents to catch. We know that we in the working and middle class and our small family businesses and farms that are their real target.

The GOP's contract should read "Committed IN America", since most of them should be...

It's a 1 page pile of optimistic slogans, none of which they have the desire or ability to reach...

Nobody with half a brain will be fooled by any of this...

America can either choose a new path in November or keep spiraling into a Depression from the Recession that we are currently in.

The Democrats have been destroying this nation since the 2018 elections.

Just wondering, how exactly are majority House Republicans starting 11/22 going to prevent the economy spiraling into a depression? Maybe you have some actual policy proposals, in the absence of any in the McCarthy speech. The "only I can fix it" dog whistle without any specifics is getting old. However, it evidently works on you.

It's actually not rare criticizing my own side, but your side doesn't really see it unless it's something that you also oppose. So I can see you opposing the stoppage of the "87,000" IRS agents which were apparently a key component of a climate change bill (?) but I never thought that was real in the first place. That's nearly doubling the size of the IRS, which would probably take years and years to find qualified people for those positions (if ever) but that was needed to make the bill appear cheaper than it was by calculating how much extra revenue those agents would bring in.

So I know the "87,000" IRS agents are fake, McCarthy knows they are fake, yet that's the only specific thing he could find for his "Commitment to America" agenda.

So if you want to hear me criticize my own side again, here goes: McCarthy is going to be as big a disaster (for the GOP electorate) as Paul Ryan was, He might have some fiery rhetoric here and there, and have a few investigative committees that will go exactly nowhere, but everything that has been kicked off by the Biden administration will continue, even if they don't get anything new. So if you are worried about the Republicans taking the House, relax. Nothing is going to rock your boat.

I agree the political banter is meaningless, but my concern is business, the workplace is changing rapidly these days, and it is only going to speed up. I.e., even banking is starting to undergo a serious shift with this mobile app approach, that is already changing banking at their branches. Now while cryptocurrency is in an at least an adjustment phase, most likely some of it will survive. Even groceries are being less stocked and more delivered. It is getting tougher and tougher for companies to adjust.

I doubt either party has any real world solutions and most likely limited understanding, and the finance industry is trying to adjust as we speak. Times are changing faster than ever, so maybe the Republicans have a hidden viable solution, I would bet against it, but as for the economy I agree with you 100% some better dialogue is required for the better of the nation, but like you I don't have much faith, which is disconcerting to say the least.

Nobody can do worse than Biden and the Democrats! They are leading us to destruction. And they have offered no solution. Just spend, spend, and spend some more.
