The "Swamp" lost the presidential election, since Trump *is* the Swamp. Very swampy creature.
I never understood how a person with such a history of corruption, was ever believed when he said he would "drain the swamp." Sure, it was a change from other swamp creatures, but you don't drain the swamp by taking out some slimy monsters and installing there another slimy monster. You just have a swamp inhabited by a slightly different species of creatures.

Yes, like I said in another thread:
Americans in 2016: "Hey, here's an idea, let's elect Donald Trump! What could go wrong?"

Sorry, but this is quite ridiculous. If Biden and Harris are not inaugurated, by force of the Constitution Pelosi becomes the president, not Trump. Once the EC votes were counted and certified, Trump has lost his re-election bid and NOTHING can change it; therefore his term ends at 12 noon on 1/20/2021 regardless of whatever else happens; if the presidency is vacant by then in case the president-elect and the vice-president-elect are not sworn in, the president is the Speaker of the House. So what exactly is the scenario in which Trump would stay in power???

Wishful thinking is a powerful drive, sometimes.

    :roflol:

There is NO Comparison (or Equivalency) Whatsoever between the unrest this Summer and the Deadly Trump-Inspired Domestic Terrorism.

There is NO "Equivalency" whatsoever. Period.

And, the Entire "Lookie Here, Summer!" Whataboutism is Misguided (and Beyond Laughable).
    "Lookie Here, Summer!" :roflol::bored:

And, back to McConnell and the OP, Mitch is correct.

If McConnell has the Votes (17 GOP Senators), he should (obviously) reassemble the Senate (in Emergency Session) and have an Expedited Trial (and Convict and Remove that Treasonous Trump Idiot).

It will be Impeachment IF the Senate ever finds its balls and removes the cancer which I do not hold out hope for.

So are you using those "unnamed sources" that you would be accusing and slamming your opposition for allegedly using??

The Trumpocity can only protect himself from Federal charges via pardon but yes your are right State and local charges and civil suits are not able to be protected by presidential pardons.

Again Andrew you are either wise beyond your years or wise between your ears! You choose.

Yes I agree that the Trumpeezian inspired attack on our Capitol and the murder of Capitol police offers was a domestic terrorist act.

Trump may fall way below Benedict Arnold in regards to their credence and contribution to the US.

I cannot help but but agree generally with your equitable assessment of 'the swamp'.

During nearly all my working life, my contact with many different levels of government convinced me long ago that there was a "swamp" (although we who worked for prime-contractors used different descriptors). And, in truth, we've probably had a "swamp" ever since we adopted the bureaucratic formations needed to make a government work in the first place.

What Trump faced was a very powerful, deeply-entrenched federal bureaucracy that was committed to its own hold on power, privilege, and an idyllic status of really being answerable only to ITSELF. A dogmatic, uncompromising, "my-way-or-the-highway" mentality like Trump's was very ill-suited to contend with this "swamp" -- and because he dealt with it so recklessly and carelessly, it was relatively easy for the "swamp creatures" to undermine, sabotage, and ultimately defeat him in the end.

If nothing else, we can probably agree that significant disagreements with the government's bureaucratic "swamp" will not (NOT) occur during the forthcoming Biden presidency. Old "go-along-to-get-along" Joe will play the "swamp" contingent like a piano!

    So as......

Twitter finally steps in to stop 'Hang Mike Pence' trending - just hours after it banned Trump for 'inciting violence'

    • The phrase was trending in the early hours of Saturday hours after Twitter permanently banned Trump citing risks of 'further incitement to violence'
    • As of 1:26 a.m. over 14,400 Twitter users had used the phrase

Not exactly a 'genius' conclusion, Surfer. If nothing else, Trump did put three people on the Supreme Court who weren't lickspittle, hyperliberal, America-hating STOOGES for the radical Democrat agenda.

But with the same intellectual rigor you've demonstrated in your post above, we Conservatives could as easily postulate that everything your wonderous "Messiah" Obama touched turned to '****' also. Such declarations are easy to make... all you have to do is open your mouth....

Alternatively, one could look at facts. Obama had the cleanest 4/8 year administration in my very long lifetime. But of course, you are not to be confused by facts. Your mind is made up and we can't let facts mess with that!

not if the insurrection act is invoked, the constitution gives all power to the commander in chief.

Yeah, buddy, but only until 1/20/2021 at twelve noon. At 12:00:01 he is no longer the CIC. Is this what you are really hoping for? Talk about denial...

Newsflash: next week by this time Trump will no longer be the POTUS. Sorry for your rude awakening.

Look at the background and history of both Sotomayor and Kagan and then come back and remind us of how "clean" your wonderous Obama really was when he put THOSE two on the highest court in the United States....

    Headline doesn't match the article.

And is quite atrocious in spelling and grammar.

facts, I need facts, verifiable facts, not assertions, nor rumors, nor 'fake' news, nor white supremacist sound bites, nor one of Trump's fevered claims. Sotomayor and Kagan have long been highly respected jurists, and more that an intellectual, ethical match for Trump's additions to the court.

according to this source the insurrection act was invoked because of fraudulent elections

President Trump commands the troops until democratic elections are held.

That would cause the Senate to quickly impeach in a landslide. Not happening, obviously, but I have no doubt Trump asked about it
