Charles Ramsey, a neighbor who said he heard screaming from the house, noted in an interview with a local TV station that he was eating McDonald's when the scene unfolded Monday. The real hero in the 10 year ordeal of three women in Cleveland is Charles Ramsey, who upon hearing screams coming from the house nearby, went over to the front door and helped break in the storm door to get the woman out, who ran into his arms crying, saying call 911 He then called and handed the cell phone to her. He took such control of the situation and was defintely the hero in this harrowing tale of 3 women losing 10 years from their lives in a fiendish kidnapping that went undiscovered because of lack of interest of the Cleveland police. To have the police come and search the house finding the two other women plus a 6-year-old was just an anti-climax because the woman Ramsey saved had already told the police there were two others in the house. The police said: Weve found them, weve found them when they were finally entering the house after 10 long years. If there are any rewards for the safe return of the three women, it should be given to Charles Ramsey because if he didnt run across the street and get the woman out and to safety, those women and a child would still be there today!
The guy is a hoot. I imagine he'll get his fifteen minutes and a nice payday over this. I just hope he uses some of it for dental work and a bank account.
In an interview he's said that any reward money should go to the girls. It is really hard not to like this guy
Amen to that, especially given it doesn't appear he's a very wealthy man. I hope he reconsiders and takes the money. And if not, karma dictates he has even better things in store for him.
Oh I think he will do okay. He presented an example of how many Americas want their country to be "Get involved because it is the right thing to do" I'd not be surprised if he discovers a nice check in his mailbox from some benefactor inspired by his actions and wanting to say thank you
He was made aware he may be eligible for reward money and he told them to give it to the girls because he already has a paycheck. Class at right there. You go Charles!
Hopefully, someone will set up an internet account for him for people to donate to - like someone did for the little old gal who was a school bus monitor and was harassed so badly by some students - IIRC, she ended up w/around $600,000? A lot anyway.... Billy Ray Harris was another.... a homeless dude when a woman mistakenly gave him her very expensive wedding ring when she dumped a bunch of change in his cup, not knowing her ring was in the purse. The next day she realized what she did, found him and he gave it back to her. The day he got it, he took it to a jewelers and was offered $4,000 for it right there, but he didn't take it, thinking she might want it back..... The husband wanted to do more for him, so he set up the account for Billy Ray - the last I heard he had around $178,000.... I hope this happens for Ramsey - no one more deserving than him, after saving 4 lives......a little 6 yr old girl who can now start living the life a child deserves.
