Meet Congressman Ted Yoho, R. Florida:

Just wanted to share some quotes from a freshman representative elected "with strong Tea party support," according to the source of these quotes, the Washington Post:

Sounds to me like Yoho is running 100 mph toward good old-fashioned John Bircherism.

He explains that this would reassure everyone that we were going to 'get our debt under control.' Actually, of course, it would plunge the US Treasury into chaos and scare everyone to death. At least.

But this quote really tells the story, in my opinion:

Note the smug narcissism revealed here. 'He's' not going to raise the debt ceiling. And he's evidently relishing the idea of the resulting "tsunami."

His own words, I'd say, reveal him as a self-indulgent, opinionated extremist on a power trip.

    But wait, there's more!

Last year the 'conspiracy' site Intellihub reported that freshman congressman Yoho had a conversation with talk radio host Bob Tuskin, in which Tuskin made some 'points' about Building 7 and 'the architects and engineers who have examined the evidence and don’t buy the official story.'

They quote Yoho as 'admitting' that "an independent investigation into 9/11 was a necessary and noble cause." So, the gentleman is apparently a 'truther.'

As well as a Member of Congress, proud of his role in disabling the functioning of the Government of the United States, and promising to do much much more.

    Are you frightened yet?

The shutdown is a sham. The regulatory job-killing is going full speed.

Yep. I'm terrified. And if he gets his way, and gleefully causes global economic collapse, his constituents will blame Obamacare.

What is wrong with these people?

    This isn't a surprise.

They can't pass the policy they want because the american people voted them out of power in two elections. So as the little snot nosed whinny children they are they're going to do whatever they can to ruin the country. Cause if they can't have it...no one can.

Sadly, I think you're right, Osiris. I just hope to God that Boehner grows a spine in the next two weeks.

Really, trucker? You don't think that the US defaulting on its debts would have any effect in the US?

It's both. "Global" includes the United States.

The shut down only hurts the american people. Those employed by the federal government who aren't getting paid right now. Who are facing hard times as they try to care for themselves and their families. This directly affects the american people.

The debt ceiling. If the GOP forces a default on that...it will be much worse for the country. Put simply, we wont be able to pay our bills on time. That hurts us globally. It could send us spiraling into another recession just as bad as the first. Not that the GOP would give (*)(*)(*)(*) about it.

It's just a little bit scary to me, trucker, that you didn't know the basic information which Osiris posted.

Excuse me? Sitting on their butts? You mean the ones who still have to work while not being paid?

These are people with families and responsibilities just like everyone else.

The fact that you don't care really shows where you stand.

That plus the fact that he doesn't know the most elementary facts about what's going on. He's getting his "information" from the non-reality-based community.

trucker, remember the incident in Washington a couple of days ago, the woman with the car? Remember the police who chased her and tried to stop her, at considerable risk to themselves? The same police who later that day got a standing ovation from Congress, including the hypocritical *********s? Those police are working without pay thanks to the Teabag tantrum. You're fine with that, apparently. I guess they're not "real workers" because they are employed by the federal government.
