Since the TRUMP CAMPAIGN is ADMITTING it was plagiarism.....

maybe we could ask the PF Mods to remove the word "apparently" from the Subject Line of the OP?

    :)

((BTW, this is only the THIRD day of the incompetent clown circus known as the "Trump Republican Convention" :) ))

Um, if you read the first sentence in my post it says " False, Ms. McIver apologized.......". The false part was for the poster I was responding to who claimed there was no plagiarism. I linked Ms. McIver's apology for this particular poster.....I am well aware she apologized and at no time did I claim she did not. Good for her as well, she stepped up to the plate......

You may have read my post too quickly perhaps......see also post 661 as well as 674 in this thread.

Again "little help" is not "as little help as possible" is it? You said she wrote the speech. Were you misinformed or attempting to misinform the readers of your post?

I hate to break it to the Democrats but that was not the best part of Melania's speech.

Hey, I'm not defending her. I said it was stupid for her speech writer to do what he did. And it was a few PHRASES, not full sentences word for word!!!!! Not the whole speech. Common phrases. Or do you think no one has said those things before. It was moronic to keep in phrases a former first lady spoke. REALLY misguided.

    HOWEVER....check it...

In 2008, the aspiring First Lady was accused by bloggers of lifting lines for her DNC speech from Saul Alinsky. Alinsky wrote, in Rules for Radicals (emphasis added): “The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.” Michelle Obama said: “And Barack stood up that day, and he spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about ‘the world as it is‘ and ‘the world as it should be.'”

    You were saying....?

    AND....

You were saying...? Citizen vs POTUS? Hmmmm, which is worse?

    Uhm, no.....
She said she did it HERSELF (I wrote it myself)

The fact that you are grasping at straws shows how desperate some people are to defend the indefensible.

Saying the ‘the world as it is‘ and ‘the world as it should be.'” is not plagiarism, lol.

The members of the League of Small-Handed Men are liable to swoon when they hear that tough talk.

For starters I have not voiced my opinion on whether she plagiarized Obama so straws I am not grasping for. You said, Trump said she and she alone wrote the speech. I asked for your source. Got one or not?

I noted that "Angry White Guys are no more qualified to instruct women how they should vote than they are Black or Hispanic Americans."

If you differ, and believe that Angry White Guys are qualified to instruct women how they should vote, as well as Black and Hispanic Americans, we obviously differ.

Americans are perfectly capable of assessing the level of misogyny and racism in the respective political parties for themselves. If you believe otherwise, again, we differ.

When she said "I wrote it myself", that infers/implies automatically that she did it alone.
Do you have problems with comprehension?

This is simply the latest non-starter the left is desperately hoping is going to somehow magically sink Trump's chances. However, it is going to have no effect whatsoever. It is absurd to even pretend otherwise. Of course, those obsessing on it are the same group of feebs who kept telling us that as soon as Trump was the nominee, the press was going to unload with all this ammunition they have been saving that was going to again sink Trump. A group that never seems to learn.

The forum's least capable members are back into panic mode now that they realize the whole "Trump is done" idea they were attempting to sell a couple of weeks ago based on their cherry picked polls isn't panning out as hoped. Now they are clearly grasping at straws.

At any rate, as an independent observer, I really don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) what Trump's wife has to say or where her words came from. It simply isn't relevant. The inability to differentiate between what matters and what doesn't is a common trait among those who fall well below the mean.

What are you babbling about? We don't have to do anything to sink Trump. Just let him talk. He's the least liked Presidential candidate in recorded history, lol. I posted this because of the comedy of it. Just the irony that at the Republican National Convention one of the biggest speeches of the weak for Donald Trump, his wife was quoting Michelle Obama. I mean you can't write better comedy than that.

Please list whoppers today. And it would be fun if you could actually list the dozen lies but you will probably duck or make some lame excuse for not actually being able to quote the dozen.

It is not I that has reading comprehension problems. Here is her quote. ""I read it once over, and that's all because I wrote it with as little help as possible,'' she told TODAY's Matt Lauer in an exclusive interview on Monday." The false statement frequently stated by people such as yourself would lead you to believe she wrote it yourself, but that obviously is not what she said. Why did you feel the need to misquote Melania?

Those were the same words, talking about the same subject. Obama plagiarized him. But who cares. Much like "that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do" Those are VERY common phrases. Those are basically life lessons in 1000s of self help books and biographies. OF COURSE the speech writer lifted that phrase, but Michelle didn't invent any of those phrases, nor was the first to use them in a speech. Seems like the speechwriter was out to screw her.

Funy how you completely ignored the video above. WOW, I wonder why? Did Obama not completely STEAL that part of his speech? Oh yeah he did.

Well, we are getting there. A little bit more refinement is needed - yes, she is a stunner for her 50+ years, and no, the rest of it doesn't matter at all - eye-candy will do here. I sort of agree that 1st ladies should be seen and not heard. Otherwise, you end up with another delinquent like Clinton.

My take says she deliberately quoted Michelle as a tribute to a strong woman. After all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

What do you think the part about " I read it once over" means in conjunction with " I Wrote it with as little help as possible". Maybe my grasp of language is faulty but the two make no sense to me. Want to try and reconcile the two parts of her statement.

I feel bad for Melania...now fondly called Malaria by the opposing side...amongst other nasty names.
Am I thrilled she has pics all over the net scantily clad and posing in ways a potential FLOTUS should not pose? No. But...I'd rather her then Hillary. Melania thrills men.....Hillary kills men. Big difference.

No, it is perfectly clear. She simply read it over once, as SHE WROTE IT and turned it over for spellcheck and syntax check. So, she recognized it all as the speech SHE WROTE.

So, not much scrutiny was required.

Lmao, you guys are in desperation mode if you think that is plagiarism. You're allowed to say common phrases that mean basic things. Taking chunks of speech and making it your own, is plagiarism. Come on now, you conservatives have to be smarter than this. Makes me wonder if you guys are just professional trolls or actually serious.
