Iran has conducted terrorist attacks that it has used Hezbollah as a front for (to take the blame even though they were Iranian agents). Usually the terrorist attacks that are external to Lebanon were really conducted by Iranian intelligence personnel hiding behind a Hezbollah front. So not only do you have Iranian support of terrorist activities engaged in by Hezbollah within Lebanon historically and against Israel, but you have direct engagement of terrorism by the Iranian state around the world. The US CIA is aware of the ruse, but generally pushes the Hezbollah label because that's actually what Israel wants or has wanted in the past rather in order to vilify what it considered to be a closer enemy.

Iran also allows funding and weapons smuggling to Hamas which does operate a terrorist organization in the form of the Qassam Brigade.

Now we (the US) have certainly sponsored terrorism targeting Iran as well. Our previous funding of Jundallah under president Bush was disgraceful and President Obama put a stop to it and added them to our terrorist list.
