Do you realize that the SU35 presents the best avionics ever? Competition a part ... Russian engineers have improved the impossible [MIG-29] to create an absolute ... P.S. more I think to that fighter ... more I wonder why Italy doesn't buy it [since Cold War is ended, you know ...].
Sure ... anyway Poland has been able to inherit some Mig29 Fulcrums [and I don't hide a bit of envy!].
Nothing against Poland or Poles, my better half, my first and only love is half Polish, but what was the purpose of NATO ? Historically, what has been the purpose of Poland ? When my side won the Cold War, what purpose was there for NATO after the "Wall" came down ? But the side that lost the Cold War in America, being the liberal Democrats , some had a chip on their shoulders, one being President Clinton's Secretary of State Madeleine Albright who wasn't an American by birth but born in Czechoslovakia and lived under Soviet occupation and wanted to continue the Cold War. What you are seeing today with Putin and Russia is because of Madeleine Albright convincing President Clinton of expanding NATO and keeping the Cold War going. What was NATO's original primary mission ? Killing Russians.
NATO primary mission? To keep Russians out and Germans under ... I have thought too to the process of enlargement of NATO towards East. I would say that after the fall of the wall those countries were looking for warranties that a further Russian domain wasn't t be seen again. NATO was the natural solution and, as it's obvious, Washington was well glad to welcome those countries [there is no power which doesn't like to see its sphere of influence growing ...].
If you remeber when the ":Wall" came down during the G.H. Bush administration the question being asked, what becomes of NATO ? Most said that NATO no longer had a mission. NATO was soon to go, go the way the horse calvary did, it served it's purpose. But a nationalized American citizen (Madeleine Albright) has a big chip on her shoulder just like most Europeans had with the former Soviet Union. Can you blame them ? After the Cold War, Russia should have been brought under Western Europe as a partner just like West Germany and Japan were after WW ll. When Russia asked to join NATO they were told no way Jose. Biggest mistake was right after 9-11-01 when Russia wanted to become an American ally fighting against Al Qaeda and radical Islam and it was Dick Cheney who still had the Cold War mentality and looked as Putin being KGB. Well Cheney was right, Putin is X-KGB but Putin like most Russians just want respect. They know they are no longer a world super power but they want to be a regional power and they are and want to be recognized as so. Yes the only purpose of Poland is being a buffer zone between Germany and Russia. But the biggest problem between Russia and Germany has always been those frogs to the west of Germany.
The development of the situation has been quite curious. In occasion of the war in former Yugoslavia, Clinton [the guy who was at Moscow when was a student] fought against Serbians with the alliance of a former Communist Italian Prime Minister [D'Alema], friend of those Serbian mates ... I do remember the run for the airport at Sarajevo, Russians won and Clinton stopped US generals. Years later, at Pratica di Mare Bush Junior and Putin signed an agreement of cooperation [also military] between NATO and Russia. It seemed that something was possible to be build ... Then it came the problem of Eastern Europe.
Tupolev said that good-looking plane flies good as well. I guess only Rafale can compete with Su-35S at that. "The Big Game ends only when everyone dies" I bet this quotation belongs to Kipling.
