Time to go? I realize this nut job has the right to say what she feels, but most REASONABLE people would characterize this as over the top. She should resign, what say you?

A Missouri state senator says she has no plans to resign ― despite loud calls from within her own party to do so ― after she said she hoped President Donald Trump would be assassinated.

Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal made the comment on her Facebook page Thursday morning in response to a thread she’d started out of frustration over the white supremacist violence last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“I hope Trump is assassinated!” she wrote on her page, which is not open to the public. While she deleted the post soon after, a screenshot of it nevertheless quickly gained traction, earning rebukes from across the political spectrum.

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) issued a straightforward statement: “I condemn it. It’s outrageous. And she should resign.”

What she said was beyond stupid, so can I put you down as her defender? So answer the question, should she resign?

    Kind of reaching aren't you?

It was stupid. I wouldn't resign.

That sort of remark made about Obama during his reign would have brought an instant firestorm of threats, abuse and hatred.
The left has always been home to the blatant double standard.

So the leftists all proclaimed Trumps remarks on Charlottesville were wholly inappropriate ... Condemning all political violence was the wrong approach ... Today Boston played host to both protester, and counter protester ... no violence. Now that the dust has started to settle, who's violent hate speech lingers? What radical fringe is on twitter calling for political assassination? Not a democratic states senator surely. Not with the Scalise massacre fresh in our minds. Surreal.

Missouri Lt. Gov. Mike Parson informed a state Democratic lawmaker who threatened President Trump’s life to resign by September 13 or the state Senate will move to expel her.

Parson, a former sheriff who also serves as the president of Missouri’s State Senate, pointed to a section of the Missouri Constitution that relates to penalties for lawmakers guilty of “contempt and disorderly conduct.”

If she is not arrested by Secret Service and prosecuted, the head of Secret Service should be promptly fired.

When you are a public figure and elected official the things you say have a bit more weight, so saying stupid things demands greater consequences. She should resign, that'd be the sensible thing to do...

All speech should be protected. Hoping trump gets assassinated does not constitute a threat. Let her say what she will, and let it reflect in the next senate race.

I would be a hypocrite if I said I think she should be silenced. Freedom of speech should apply to all, even elected officials, and even if it is hate speech.

US Senators used to be decided by state legislators, not the public, according to the Founders', why should this be different? If we are to have two separate Houses of Congress, and one is supposed to be the 'higher' house, why then leave it the masses? Clearly between that disaster Obama, and now seeing more and more 'representatives' like this clown, the people have proven they have poor judgement, perhaps in some instances we should return to the original intent before its too late...

Just another black racist puke who was most likely steeling tax dollars. She sees the end to her gravy train and she will most likely get more stupid as the day of her removal nears.

    rinse lather repeat.

I seriously believe her own state party will give her the boot, this will not die on the vine.
