While I'm the first one to jump to the defense of blacks, Latinos, gays, whomever, based on principle, if I think their rights are being violated, my experience has been that there is more racism in the black and Latino communities than in white communities, on the West Coast. Maybe not so true in the rural areas but definitely in the cities.

Blacks used to have a common saying: Never trust whitey! But they had good reason to feel this way.

There is probably more racism between minority groups, including Asians, than among whites; again, in the cities.

I remember plenty of black guys when I was in the Army that were married to white females and their fathers basically disowned them, because they were too dark. He was black and they were white.

 

Same thing happens when black girls hookup with white guys...

I've been told by black people that light skinned black people are often racist against dark skinned black people. It kind of surprised me because I never paid attention to how light or dark a black person's skin was and I didn't know they did.

Edit to clarify... I'm originally from Georgia and of course I noticed the difference in black skin tones. I just didn't originally realize that black people divided themselves up that way. I went to an almost all white private school so yea I lived in a little white bubble.

 

Racism is natural to a degree. It's instilled in us from nature, for our own protection and preservation.

White folks have been conditioned to suppress it.

I have seen black kids get into fights over this at school - it amazed me when I saw it happening twenty years ago and I'm still surprised about it now. BTW, the racism works BOTH ways.

 

Oh I've already been made familiar with that phrase by my token black friend Eric.

Eric jokingly says he has over 200 white friends and he provides us all with an important social service. He protects us from being called racist by being our friend. He even made up a price sheet of services he offers. A fake story about how we bailed him out of jail will cost $100. If he has to testify in a criminal court case to show a jury we're not racist cost $500 to $5000 depending on the crime we're charged with.

I'm not making this up but yea his price sheet is just a joke he created although... I wonder.

He's the funniest guy I know. He's alright for a black guy
