You're just trying to make this a discussion about some particular fragment uttered by Obama in some unidentified context. That's basically no more than trolling.

As for Sunni participation, Bush did force some of that to happen in the steps toward forming the Iraqi government.

However, those steps were a monumental and well recognized failure.

Much later, the military training programs we ran in Iraq had some success in integrating Sunnis in the Iraqi military. I'm sure Obama would have made positive statements about that. However, I've seen no analyses suggesting that has turned any corner.

 

You make good sense up until the last line when you blame Obama for a decision made during the Bush administration. Bush made the dumb decision to invade Iraq, and it was during the Bush administration that Iraq made the decision to kick the Americans out. Imagine the outcry if Obama had tried to occupy Iraq against the will of the Iraqi government.

 

Inspections of Iranian nuclear installations are taking place. Other progress has been made. Nations have been brought together in opposition to Iranian nuclear dreams.

You can't possibly call that a blunder. There isn't anything for that to have been a blunder FROM - the situation previous to the deal was clearly worse.

- Bush selected Maliki after their election that ended in a virtual 4 way tie. "Virtual", as there WAS a winner - and Maliki came in 3rd or 4th. Maliki was CLEARLY a resolute Shiite with a long history of being an extreme religious sectarian whose religion is that of Iran.

- Bush made Iraq a sovereign nation.

- Bush designed, negotiated and signed the SOFA that removed us from Iraq in all but a training and support capacity. That was by demand of the sovereign nation of Iraq, as expressed by Maliki and also by his government.

It is you who is perpetrating history revisionism. Bush invade Iraq for no good cause. Bush set up the Melaki regime, then proceeded to set a withdrawal timeline which Obama followed. Melaki, the man that Bush backed, did not want the US to be there. We were the invaders and we cannot be there indefinitely.

That's funny. The most powerful man in the world with military, intelligence, and governance personnel on the ground in Iraq is too dumb or corrupt to keep them in place with a known global sponsor of terrorism on the border. Obama was powerless and too dumb or corrupt to act. Hilarious.

We Westerners don't have a full understanding of Middle-Easterners. They are masters of the art of negotiation.

On the other hand, they are highly ethical. We must only deal with them according to their standard of ethics.

 

Do you really believe that President Nouri al-Maliki was ethical? Don't you think he wanted US troops gone so he could better pillage the country and suppress the Sunnis? His mistake was he didn't foresee the ISIS invasion.

 

Maliki wanted the US to stay. But Obama pulled us out anyway. Obama was either stupid or corrupt for not protecting the victory in Iraq and the first constitutional republic in a Muslim ME country. That is Obama’s colossal foreign policy blunder.
