Just like the blathering Michael Moore, here we have Jay-Z cashing in on the movement..not just with the exposure like Moore..but in actual dollars.

    Nah...not sharing.

LOL....people know a good take when they see it.

Why should he share the profits? The brand is public domain.

Who would he share it with? There is no OWS office to send a check to, it is a populist movement.

Best of all, who cares what celebrities do? Not people who are busy, I can tell you that!

It sure is. Also it's another great example of how this celebrity support is nothing but lip service.

Really? Well someones taking the checks..as OWS just deposited 20K into Wells Fargo....the same Bank they valdalized.

No...there are organizers who are taking funds. Perhaps he could show his support and give a percentage to the same name that 20K deposit was made to?

Oh sure, I agree. I just found it funny. This whole thing is turning into an absolute farce. the 1% are feigning support while padding their own interests off it. Whether it's a minute in the spotlight for an attention whore, or making cash of it.

At least then both sides would be served. You could make some money, while they would actually get something in return...something they desperately need it seems.

You're talking about a group that is gathering money to help support whoever shows up to participate in the movement.

They dont' run the operation and nor do they own it. It's a populist movement, with people participating at will across the country only by showing up.

All that does is make those feigning support a farce, not the movement.

What about that statement would stop Jay-Z from adding his 2 perccents to the movement?

And we'll disagree about this being a populist movement. it may have started that way, but today this is a movement infilitrated, and corrupted with many groups that none would want to be associated with...and I assume funded by as well.

Fair enough, although as above I find the movement to be a farce as well. Go down the lists of supporters/sponsors..and you'll see any real grass roots beginning this thing had are long over. IMO it has become an absolute farce.

Sure does. Communism aint coming through that door...they may just want to pack up and go home. All they are doing is aiding 1%ers at this point.

Nothing, but my only point (which I know you agee with) is that he doesn't have to do anything with the money he makes off it.

Might be a slight difference, see below...

This is what happened to Tea Party as well. Populist movement gathers traction which then attracts sponsors with non-populist agenda, thereby hijacking the narrative and fundamentally transforming the credibility of the group.

One difference though, tea party started grass roots then got hijacked (pretty quick too) while OWS - if I recall - got started up as a brand by AdBusters, then took on a populist life of it's own from that point. So kind of in reverse of the Tea Party's path.

Oh absuloutely Pro Deus, I do agree with you. He is not obligated to do anything with it...even though he claims support of the movement. The point that I see with this thread, (others might see something else in it), is another dose of Hypocrisy by the very 1% the movement is trying to target.

Much like Michael Moore, and Kanye...here is Jay-Z getting his "take" from the movement...while no doubt a bunch of OWSers think hes on their side.

I just found it to be a funny story.

I should also sell them condoms so STDs aren't spread. And I'll sell them good condoms, not those prone to break like Planned Parenthood condoms.

Adding his 2 percents... that's funny right there.

It is like the Che shirts. Engaging in capitalism to fashionably express anti-capitalist ideals. Brilliant.
