This from one of my earlier posts in this thread on page 12.

There is more evidence for it than not, and written in more historical books than not.

Even the Muslims have Moses name mentioned in their Qu'ran. Hmmm...

So, Moses name appears in the BIBLE, which is historical.

Moses name appears in many Jewish writings that are historical.

Moses name appears in Muslim writings that are historical.

    Who has the problem here?!

Early Jewish writing and early Muslim writing? You are just back on the Bible and the Koran. If you have no argument with sources then give up as this is getting boring, so far you have provided exactly nothing to defend your argument that Moses existed. Nothing.

Is that true? Or have rich and powerful people corrupted his message? Like Jesus loves naked capitalism. No, Jesus had a love for the poor and the rejected.

Historical evidence is historical evidence, is it NOT, mr. bow wow?

The Jewish writings were put into the Old and New Testaments that make up the BIBLE.

They are "historical" literature in EVERY sense of the word.

The muslim writings were put into a book that make up the koran.

They are mostly "historical" literature in EVERY sense of the word.

Josephus, among other ancient historians, has mentioned some of the names you claim to have NEVER existed.

Again, you are the first I have heard of that states such people have never existed.

You are trying to disprove and discredit the BIBLE and Christianity with hot air, mr. bow wow, HOT AIR.

Historical evidence is historical evidence, whether if it's in different writings, archeology, etc.

You're NOT proving, disproving, or discrediting ANYTHING, other than you're trying to base your whole debate and argument, and discussion that these people never existed, when historical writings say otherwise, mr. bow wow.

Very intelligent people that are NOT even Christian acknowledge that the people you claim to have never existed, did, indeed, and in fact, existed.

Your argument and debate is buried.

And as you continue, you're just burying yourself even deeper.

History has spoken, mr. bow wow, no matter if you believe it or not.

Historical evidence IS historical evidence, NO ifs, ands, or buts about it.

You need to move on, and STOP trying to disprove and discredit the BIBLE and Christianity by and with all attempts and purposes necessary, with your lies that such people never existed.

    You're WRONG, mr. bow wow!

You could NOT be more WRONG!!! :)

Indeed, some people have used the Name of JESUS CHRIST and have used the BIBLE for self gain, power, etc. That is forbidden, sin, and wrong in GOD's eyes.

The majority that believe and know do so out of genuine love and respect for the TRUTH.

By the way, NOT exaggerated by any means, but ABSOLUTE TRUTH.

    Historical evidence is historical evidence.

Jewish / Hebrew writings, even muslim writings that are historical prove their existance.

You, and many others, go to such great lengths, to try to disprove and discredit the BIBLE and Christianity. You'll say anything.

It's really funny, funny and sad at the same time.

In case you hadn't noticed, Herod was cast in the role of the serpent attempting to kill the mythical Christ child in an alleged historical event that never in fact happened, namely the slaughter of babies. The comparison of Hera and Herod is simply a comparison of the role these characters play in the respective stories - it doesn't matter whether one was based on a real person while the other was not. Hera was real enough to the Greeks anyway.

lulzor!! Funny stuff! Now let's be serious. Homer is not the issue, but rather a cultural mytho-historical belief. Spartan kings had claimed to be descendants of Hercules.. Hercules was real to the ancient Greeks, just as Christ is real to people today, along with his mythical father in the sky and his miracles reported solely in religious texts penned by religious zealots in the midst of a war for independence against the Romans.

As would I, though when it comes to understanding the mythology behind Christ, there isn't a whole lot to go on which formally deals with that subject. Too many people are wrapped up in the false notion that there was a real Yeshua bar Josef running around in first century Palestine, and so that is the line historians follow. They do this with no evidence to support Christ's existence, and scholars readily admit this. They just haven't seen much reason to doubt that there was a Jesus, and this stems from their ignorance of Christ's mythological origins and purpose.

This just looks like nothing more than brow-beating, offering no explanation for why the demigod Jesus should be accepted as historical. I think there is information of which this historian is unaware or is ignoring, namely Jesus's striking similarities to Eleazar ben Simon as well as to his fellow mytho-historical heroes of past ages, e.g. Hercules and Mithras, who were clearly not real persons either yet purportedly lived similar lives.

People who study Christ don't seem to pay much attention to Mithras, Osiris or any other astrology-derived sun heroes. They disassociate Jesus from them, assuming they're even aware of those ancient characters at all. Getting to the truth of the Christ myth will likely mean major cultural revolution, as right now we live in a world full of people who assume that Jesus lived just as surely as people used to believe in a geocentric universe and a flat earth. Popular opinion is not always the truth, especially when it isn't based on fact so much as popular myth that is told, retold and retold some more with no counter information offered.

Homer wrote the epics around 800 , those are good 300 years after the Trojan war and he just wrote down stories carried by oral tradition .
Considering that Aeolian/Achaian Greek was a totally different language from the dialect Homer wrote it is easy for someone to foresee several "additions" by the poetic soul of the people:)

I have gave clear evidence about Josephus being a fabrication like 5 times in this thread alone, the guy was a jew, jews do not accept Jesus as their messiah like Josephus write , if you think they do try reading about the Spanish reconquista .

The story about the baby slaughter is in the Gospels. Remember, the Gospels were written around and after the Roman sacking of Jerusalem and Judea. Over 1 million people were killed and tens of thousands were made slaves. The story could be an oblique reference to that historical event. The episode could have been sanitized to absolve the Romans and to put the blame on Herod.

Its very unlikely that there was ever a population of 'millions' in all of Palestine... The land simply would not support suchh numbers.

In fact Finklestein sent out hundreds of Jewish students to do an audit re: population of ancient Palestine.. They found a couple dozen villages and a meager population.

The existence of Troy has been archaeologically confirmed, ergo everything Homer wrote about it is true ;)

Allow me to doubt that the average people know what Iliad is about (without checking wiki) , despite that i will put it like this : If everything Homer wrote about is true then the 12 gods are true and we should all start searching for the spring Achileas had his bath ( that by the way is exactly like a baptism )

    :p
