Most Common COVID Masks Only Filter About 10% of Exhaled Aerosol Droplets

I came up with a similar thought on Saturday evening while waiting for the tractor pull to start...

I want to ask these people who think that masks can somehow filter out viruses if they would be willing to take scummy pond water, pour it through their mask, and then drink that water. After all, masks filter out viruses and bacteria, right??

 

It's so friggin mind boggling that anyone thought a cloth mask could protect them from a virus.

Maybe ten feet instead of six would do the trick too...

It would actually be by the cube as we are referring to volume, not area, the further the other person is the more diluted is the viral load

 

It's transmitting to other persons whether they are two feet apart or twelve feet apart... It's transmitting to other person whether they are standing next to each other or if one person walks through where that other person was standing...

Distance traveled doesn't matter... it just matters that it gets into the air.

Wasn’t this all covered like over a year ago in covid 19 101 for beginners?
Was like a year ago when it was mentioned that the masks are not ment to save the wearer, rather others around them.
And wasn’t it a year ago that we saw the videos of someone coughing with a mask and then with out to see for ourselves how the virus goes airborn.
And wasn’t it like a year ago that it was hammered into us that a mask should be worn in public and we need to maintain a 6ft disctance in public places.
And wasn’t it a year ago notice was hammered into us to wash out hands with soap and water as much as possible and to sanitize often and after touching common things like door knobs, gas pump handles, self check outs, etc.

I know I saw all that. Still see it. But what now? Do we need to fight over this yet again? OK, non believers line up to the right. Mask believers here line up to the left, those on this forum go far left please.

 

The left have dropped the ball on this from day one. They have repeatedly claimed that a mask is a mask is a mask and blamed increased Covid cases on the unmasked as if "masked" people couldn't possibly be spreading the virus. By making the unmasked the enemy, they gave cover to themselves for their stupid policies which claimed masks work and led to the spread of the virus. They were more interested in attacking the unmasked than knowing the truth that masked people were spreading the virus everywhere.

 

I don't know that I have ever seen or heard of anyone trying to force mask wearers to take them off.

Those car drivers might be making many stops at places where a mask is required. So it makes perfect sense to keep a mask on when driving between places. What is so difficult about wearing a mask?

 

They are alone in their car! If you will excuse me, I have to put on my wet suit for my drive to the beach!

Taking off and putting on repeatedly is not good practice for mask wearing. It makes perfect sense to keep your mask on when making several stops at various places

This belief that gets mindlessly parroted around is completely nonsensical. You are expecting me to believe that masks are a "one-way filter", somehow filtering out viruses from the inside/out, yet somehow allowing viruses through from the outside/in.... It's the very same pores, dude........... WOW...... This is nothing more than a virtue signaling tactic.

There were many videos showing how the virus still spreads around into the air, regardless of being masked or not... Masks do not filter viruses.

The words that I bolded are very telling... They tell me that the issue of COVID is a religious issue for you, and that you are a fundamentalist member of the Church of COVID.

I'm interested in discussing the science, engineering, and mathematics of the matter, not any wacky religious beliefs.

No, it doesn't. There's no reason to wear a mask while alone in a vehicle.

Wearing a mask for 8+ hours a day is not good practice for mask wearing either.

 

Are you saying the study is lying about the findings about being 10% effective.

 

The study doesn't mention anything about the 90% that is clearly hindered by the mask as can be seen in the video
