Why not make it so that guns can only fire one bullet at a time akin to a bolt action rifle?

They already do that, you pull the trigger, and you fire a shot.

No, you have it contrary wise, you are the one proposing something, you must explain it, I have experience with guns, decades worth, please do.

    I beg to differ
    I have explained it.
Then you must know the difference between semi automatic, automatic and single shot weapons.

There are such handguns that do indeed exist. However they are impractical for matters pertaining to self defense, and are reserved for hunting and target shooting applications as a result. Because of the Heller ruling eight years ago, which codified that the second amendment pertained to self defense rather than hunting, the only relevant discussion of the use of firearms is for matters of defense rather than sport.

Because your first shot can miss, then you and your family members are raped or murdered.

I never understand Rubes trying to re-invent guns, I have been around guns way too long, built them, from Match Locks on up to modern guns, repaired them, etc.....,

Like the smart gun rubbish, any computer based stuff will crash once in a blue moon, why would I want a smart gun ?

This reminds me of a fable, A mother crab asks; daughter why do you walk sideways, why not walk straight ahead ?
Daughter: Mother, you show me how, so the mother tried and tried, and could only walk sideways.
Daughter: Mother, when you master the straight way, teach me how.

I rather not be the silly Guinea pig, one day, it may work, for now, My "customary gruel" will suffice.... (My stupid gun)

Well, most guns only fire one bullet at a time, even full automatic ones only do that. The next bullet is fired slightly after the first in a full auto, but only one at a time.

That said, why go back to manually operated repeaters?

Exactly. I had to reboot the icemaker in my freezer this week--it is computer controlled.

You can also get a shot timer on them as well. You're right about the 1911. You can fit just about everything on them with just a little fitting. Minimal machining if you use good quality parts and a often a dremel will get you by. The extractor is still a beyatch. Worse part of the whole system. Money says Glock takes the top spot in a few years for the hobbyist. Half the parts.
